Great location but serious issues here Firstly cold water in the room had issues w the pump meaning near scolding hot water for ages followed by freezing. But the main issue is the air conditioning. It’s nothing short of diabolical. There is only one air conditioning unit which is located by the window and pumps a very light stream of cold air directly over the bed.. specifically at the head end and seemingly just to cool your head?! So I had one of the worst sleeps of all time in some 15 years of touring for business. I was told by an engineer that they had taken a look and the room would be “like an ice box” but it wasn’t improved.. then a second person came and said that’s just how it works.. clearly the hotel is doing the usual European trick of trying to make as much money as possible and doing the very least to provide true air conditioning. This design flaw is a serious problem. The hotel was extremely warm, all common areas clearly have little to no ventilation which i would actually say is dangerous in an emergency. I slept maybe 3 hours, boiling hot with freezing cold head. I now have a running nose all day… 34 euros for breakfast is also extortionate. Never again.

The Cardo Brussels hotel is very convenient in terms of location and ability to navigate both tourist sites and restaurants - provided you're good with using the metro system...which we were. A bit weird on the check-in as there is a "greeter" on the main floor who barely gave detail on where to go other than floor 2. Forgetting the ground 0 routine in Europe, we then took the escalator - which led nowhere until we did it again and got to floor two. A bit annoying. Once settled, the room was very nice, comfortable and at the end of the hallway...generally good in terms of quiet. But there must have been high crimes during the time were were there as the sirens seem to go on-and-on. :) Had a difficult time dealing with the auto-shades to dim the room as well. It was as if there was a choice of full-on open or full-on black-out curtains but finding something in between was comical. Literally spent 5 minutes laughing and trying options. Overall staff freindliness was great - they helped where needed and responded to questions about what to see, restaurants, etc.. Good value on the hotel as well. Given the closeness of metro, restaurants, tourist sites, etc. - alll easy walking distance or metro - the place is a good choice. Food - the breakfast buffet was great. Akai was a disaster. Hotel basically disclaims any relation but says it's "their" restaurant. Crap service and atmosphere - playground for juveniles. Marriott needs to get a handle on this!!! Avoid at all cost.

This hotel is horrible!! The check in is painfully slow, and check in desks empty whilst staff swan around doing nothing. And nothing says 'welcome' more than being treated like some kind of criminal at check in, and by that I mean making a big deal of charging a security deposit. I am not a thief and I object to be treated like one. A hotel room should be somewhere you can relax, and this hotel fails miserably on that score. Its less comfort, more evil bat lair. Its dark and oppresive. There was a TV screen at the end of the bed which was massively imposing, and made being in the bed feel like being in a coffin. Everything in the room is controlled by tablet & wall panel and made it all so much more complicated that necessary for no real benefit. I asked, via the tablet, if they could move the TV, but this request was ignored despite its placement being not just inappropriate, but outright dangerous as trying to work out which button to press for low level lights in the pitch dark was nigh on impossible. The shower is style over substance. The design prevents water draining properly, so you are worried throughout that the bathroom is going to flood. If you want somewhere to plot world domination by all means stay here, but if you are just looking for somewhere to relax then I would recommend finding somewhere else. I would rate it one of my worst hotel stays ever.

The hotel looks really stylish and modern, and overall its very comfortable. We loved our room and how you can control everything with the tablets provided. We'd stay here again if we ever have the opportunity.

This hotel was amazing and exceeded all my expectations. This was my first time is Belgium and the staff were very helpful with direction and very attentive to my needs. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others travelling to Brussels.

Classy hotel with a lot of great services. Some highlights for me are the relaxing pool that is included in the price and the quality cooked breakfast.

Really beautiful place to stay in Brussels. Only drawback was because it was so high-tech, it was sometimes difficult to understand how to do certain things e.g. closing the blinds! Pool was so relaxing. Bed was really comfortable. Definitely get a city view room if you can!

Middle of the road hotel compared to others I have stayed in in Brussels i.e. not the worst but also not the best. Significant issues with room soundproofing with noise from both corridor and outside (I was on 9th floor) very disturbing (Brussels always has lots of sirens). Overall room was clean and comfortable other than noise. Breakfast was okay and likely not worth what the hotel is charging for it (fairly limited selection based on charge), but if included with a stay less of an issue. Access to swimming pool limited - when checking in I was unable to get a slot till past expected checkout on second day. I had late check out so this wasn't an issue. Biggest issue was whilst using pool, dressing gown was cleared away which had my room key. I then had to wait in spa reception for security to escort me to my room to provide access which wasted a bit of time and was quite disapointing for in use lounger to be cleared.

Pros: The hotel is beautifully designed with a modern, stylish atmosphere. Most staff members were friendly and helpful, especially the young man who checked us in and the young woman who made an effort to resolve our A/C issue. The location is excellent and convenient. Complimentary water in the lobby was a thoughtful and appreciated touch. Cons: The toilet in our room was uneven and wobbled when used. The design of the sink and shower is sleek, but unfortunately, the drains under the panels were not clean. There was an unidentifiable splatter on the ceiling near the room entrance, which detracted from the otherwise clean appearance. The air conditioning in our room was not functioning properly. We reported it to the front desk, who promptly contacted maintenance. However, the two maintenance staff who came up were extremely dismissive, stayed less than a minute, and muttered comments under their breath as they left. They claimed the A/C was working, but it clearly was not—the room remained uncomfortably warm. A front desk representative was apologetic and offered us a voucher for two drinks, which we appreciated. She also mentioned that a manager would follow up with us, but no one ever did. While the gesture was kind, the dismissive attitude from maintenance and the lack of follow-up made the experience feel disrespectful and disappointing. I did contact the hotel and advise the manager of of the experience. They did apologize for the incident.

Overall the hotel was clean and well equipped with plenty of technology however, it was the complexity of the technology that was the downfall of our stay. Our bedroom light wouldn't turn off via the room control panel, so after 2 visits from different staff members, this was disabled via a fuse breaker. However, this also disabled the only light in the bathroom for us, leaving us without a bathroom light for 48 hours. We reported this fault on the first night of our stay and it took multiple complaints and multiple days without any hotel provided light for an actual technician to be sent to our room. Eventually we were offered a different room, after being told that the problem would not be fixable. Overall though, the hotel was very clean, very comfortable and the breakfast food was very good.

The room was nicely decorated. It was clean. However, there was a bad smell in the room upon arrival. The pool was crowded and not very clean and closes at 19:00 which is early, you are also required to book a slot in advance. The sauna was not included, they charge extra which is dissapointing.
