The people and service

The staff went out of their way to help us book things we never could have done on our own. We were very grateful for their kindness.

My stay was amazing. The hotel was super clean and nice and all of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The location is great and I would definitely stay there if I go to Colonia again. 5 stars no doubt!!!

Absolutely overpriced for what you get. Plus, for the price, the breakfast should be much much better.

Room was modern, clean and basic. Was only there for a night so it was exactly what I needed. Staff was friendly.

We had a private room with bathroom. We walked by empty dorm rooms which looked clean too. Modern, nice, clean and friendly staff. Close to the water and only couple streets from the main street. Nice and quiet.

Very clean, nice reception, good location so you can just drop your bag and walk around. Try the mate rental for 1usd.

Check in was easy and staff friendly. The hostel is very close to all the sights in Colonia which is very convenient. It's about a 10 minute walk to the bus station and ferry terminal. Breakfast was good-croissants, juice, bread, jam, coffee. Room was comfortable with a TV and safe. They stored our bags after we checked out which was appreciated.

The hostel overall is really really good, but the kitchen could do with a revamp and it's not great. If you don't want to cook it's perfect. Breakfast is good too!

I'm glad we only stayed one night at this hostel! Check-in was okay, although receptionist couldn't speak any English. We've got room 4 (6 bed dorm) and the walls were dirty and covered in mould. But not just that, when we got back to our room in the evening, flies were all over the room. Receptionist was very unfriendly and blamed us (although the window was already open when we arrived). At the end, she agreed to clean the room. Luckily, nobody else stayed in the room, so we could pick the bed furthest away from the mouldy walls. Breakfast was fine and location is great, close to the historic centre and lots of restaurants and bars. Overpriced for what you get, would not stay here again!

Reception can't speak English, but not problem. Facility is clean mostly. It was not on season, few guest there, but hostel put as many guest into one dormitory room only, even there are many empty room there. Felt unpleasant.

The room was cold due to lack of any heating although otherwise a nice space with large windows. The water was never hot only luke warm. The breakfast was mediocre and staff wanted to clean up before you finished. A nice part of town to be in and wander around.The staff were curteos but not warm or friendly. The communal kitchen was dirty and uninviting. The communal living area was likewise cold. Even the staff had to put lots of warm cloth on. However there was access to a computer and the internet. It might be ok staying there in summer but certainly not in the cold or rain.

As far as hostels go, this is probably the cleanest one I stayed in while in Uruguay. It's in a great location to explore the old town and its bright, and the air conditioning is great. Wifi is solid, breakfast is provided and its relatively clean. The people are there if you need help but they don't go out of their way to provide assistance.

Nice enough stay. Check in was a bit dour to say the least! Breakfast was ok but the room had a very strange odour to it whic wasn't ver pleasing at all.

This hotel was great, quiet, clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were real comfy. Nice hot shower. The only thing is the employees were not friendly and helpful at all and texting all the time.

Decent location. Hostel had sufficient bedding, they give you the sheets to set yourself and you check out by turning them back in. But service was awful. When I arrived the employee checked me in and showed me the room but nothing else. I had to find the bathroom, kitchen, etc all on my own. Not very friendly and did not enjoy my stay.
