Simple, charming, and comfortable property managed by Youssef and his wife. Youssef was so welcoming and hospitable. We ate dinners cooked by Youssef's wife in their beautiful courtyard for a truly warm and authentic experience. Youssef also arranged a sunset camel ride for us one evening which was so memorable. Amenities are lacking but we were tired from our drive arriving from Fes so we were there just to relax and enjoy the desert area. My husband and I were sick from something we ate in Fes and Youssef made us a home remedy drink that helped. Youssef's kindness cannot be beat! Highly recommend!

I was welcomed from the time i parked my car. Youssef is a great host. He welcomed me with delicious cookies and mint tea. he also turned on the heater in the room for me. i feel very warm from both the environment and also from Youssef. I love how Youssef decorates the rooms and public area. The breakfast is awesome as well. i highly recommend you to stay with Youssef.

Sometimes things appear too good to be true. When I booked this place the day before, there were not many decent places left on Expedia for Merzouga, and I did have bad experience before that some fake people post high rating reviews on a property that disappointed me badly. So I was highly skeptical. But I was happy that I was proved wrong. Youssef is such a wonderful host, he picked me up from the bus station at 5:30am in the early morning and put me to the comfort of his living room sofa to catch up some sleep before the guests checked out. I never slept on anyone's sofa including mine for 3 hours. The breakfast is both healthy and filling, with eggs, omelette, fresh orange juice, fruits and different breads, such a nice treat in his sun drenched beautiful courtyard. He also arranged the sunset camel tour for me, and I was able to spend a magical night in a duvet covered bed in a tent. The room of course is very comfortable and clean. Too bad due to the over night camel tour I was only able to spend a couple of hours in the actual bed. :) The next morning he started early again to prepare breakfast for me when I returned from the desert and help me with my luggage back to the bus station. I have stayed in so many places in the world, but rarely I have had the real feeling that it is the home away from home. This time it was, in the desert of Morocco. Thanks Youssef, if I ever come back again to Merzouga, you know where I will be staying.

The hotel is the best out of all the places I stayed in Morocco in 3 weeks of time. It very cute, very pretty, very clean. The owner is super nice as well. We didn’t arrange for pick up. We arrived late by the bus. The owner was worried so he came to the bus station to pick us up. The next day, he let us hang around the hotel until we got picked up by the desert trip in the later afternoon.

We had the best stay here in Morocco, everything was well organised and the breakfast was our favourite at chez Youssef. Ended up staying one more night here because it was simply amazing! Highly recommend this place!

Chez Youssef was such a wonderful place to stay in the desert. Youssef was hospitable and informative and his house was comfortable, the bed was the best we have slept on in years!! The Tajine he made us for dinner was the best one we ate during our trip.

Youssef is a very gracious and accommodating host with a great sense of humor. The fresh, homemade meals are very delicious and his breakfast is very delicious as well. Chez Youssef is a very clean and quiet place to relax and recharge before heading out in to the Sahara. It's a 5 minute walk to the bus station or other cafes. I highly recommend Chex Youssef for anyone traveling to Merzouga. Talk to Youssef about desert adventures. He is extremely knowledgeable and can be of great assistance.

My husband and i stayed for a night. We enjoyed the stay. The owner is friendly and helpful. Try and experience the "feel at home"/"home sweet home". The entire place is clean, quiet with traditional moroccan-style decorations. We are looking forward to visit and stay in this place again soon.

Very authentic guest house. Youssef is very helpful. He will take your problem as his own and tries best to make your stay and experience as comfortable as possible. The place is not a five star hotel, but it is very clean and the design is very attention to detail. It is by far the best place that we have stayed in Morocco.

Youssef is a fantastic helpful host! The rooms are simple, but clean, comfortable and functional. We had dinner on the night we arrived. They need one hour notice so they can go and buy fresh meat and produce. Dinner and the following mornings breakfast were wonderful. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here.

We loved our stay at Chez Youseff! Youseff was friendly and accommodating and made us feel at home. We were fortunate to be able to set up a private camel trek to his camp. The camp was beautiful! It was completely isolated and there were even flush toilets! We pulled our mattress out of the tent and slept under the stars. It was an incredible experience and I can't recommend Chez Youseff enough!

Youssef was absolutely amazing! We left there friends with him! He was so flexible. We took an overnight bus from Fez to Merzouga to do a camel excursion. Unfortunately, we had already booked with someone else, and were unaware that Youssef hosts them, as well. He was sweet about this, still meeting us at the bus at 7 A.M. and walking us to his place. He is so easy to talk to and took such good care of us. He sat us down, fed us, and let us sleep, as long as we needed, as there was no-one in need of our room, that night. He made sure that our ride picked us up and was kind to the excursion host. We appreciated his extra effort and would choose his hotel, again and again...and we hope to get to. What a dream come true!

Our favorite experience in Morocco! We stayed 2 nights & were so sad to leave! Youssef was extremely kind & helpful, waiting up for us after we had some travel delays before we arrived. He fixed tea & snacks, & made us feel so relaxed & welcome with his sunny disposition – our travel delays melted from our minds! The house itself is lovely, with bright blue accents, a great fireplace room with comfy sofas, a courtyard, big private rooms with large beds, en suite bathrooms, & lovely Moroccan decor. Breakfast was fantastic; more & more food kept coming, and we ended up stuffed! Right behind the house is a large, lovely oasis and the beginning of the magical Erg Cheggi dunes. Youssef helped arrange a camel trek to his own private dune camp for our 2nd night, where it was just us, one other lovely family who were also guests at the house, & a couple of staff to help cook dinner & guide the camels. After an amazing starry night with music & great food (& a great sleep in a safari-style luxury camp, with beds & private toilets!), we headed back to the house & were able to shower, enjoy another great breakfast, & relax before checking-out. He also helped point out places for wildlife & birds, & could arrange anything you like (better service PLUS better pricing than the big group tours we saw!). We had a magical time, with the service & attention of a 5-star concierge (who seems to speak at minimum 6 languages fluently), all bundled up into an authentic Merzouga Sahara experience.

When I arrived after dark, the owner of Chez Youssef met me at the bus office and walked me the couple of blocks to his lovely establishment. Chez Youssef is a friendly and very comfortable place to stay. In addition to good beds, a/c, and private baths, there are good wifi and electrical outlets. The courtyard in the middle of the riad has a palm tree and a bubbling fountain, and is frequented by a family of house sparrows who enjoy the refreshing water. Food at the lodge is excellent, and is served in this quiet refuge. The complimentary breakfast is tasty and filling. On the final evening Youssef prepared a meatball tagine for me that was a delicious symphony of flavors. Youssef also arranged a wonderful overnight camel trek into the Sahara Desert and later a 4x4 trip though the surrounding area. The whole experience at Chez Youssef was greatly enjoyable.
