The manager, Maria, was fully invested in making our stay as comfortable as possible (she also made us excellent breakfasts) and the hotel was very clean and well maintained. The hotel is conveniently located on the main street and the dinner menu has many offerings, all brilliantly prepares by Chelita. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Missing the hot water showers but it is in a desert. Lots of whales and affordable outings in smaller boats. Town is small and full of dogs. Bring a leash if you have one.

Not terrible, but nothing special. Rooms were old and run down. Bathroom had no mirror or any place to hang towels. Also no place in room to dry things. Only one table in room and it was all the way in the corner. Public bathroom showers did not work. Breakfast was decent and owner was nice.

Huge suite with comfy beds, outdoor kitchen in the garden with multiple seating options. Great breakfast. They make your catch/fish to your liking and perfect margaritas.

The place is an authentic Mexican hotel! No fluff! Clean! Restaurant on site. Food was pricey! Breakfast was supposed to be free and we ended up getting charged for the breakfast! The two ladies we dealt with that did the cooking and cleaning were fantastic.

Maria is a charming proprietor with wonderful suggestions. The cook made yummy meals. We loved staying there before and after our whale watching tour. Although we went with another outfit that we met last year, the Hotel Alcatraz also offers tours. Magdalena Bay is a wonderful location for watching Friendly Whales.

Stayed 1 night for whale watching. Place is unassuming from the outside but the covered courtyard/ dining area charming and comfortable, hostess and cook very friendly and helpful. Our unit had 2 enormous king beds and was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was large and the eggs made to order - fabulous for breakfast to be included. We parked on the street just outside and it seemed safe enough. Our friends stayed in a unit across the street that seemed like the driveway was still under construction (it wasn't as charming as staying in the main area). We love our time there and would return.

It’s a good hotel to stay in for a few nights. The room was small but clean. Maria (the host) waited for us until 2am, it was very nice of her to stay up that late. We will definitely stay there again.

Defenitely felt like we had all the comforts of The Infamous Alcatraz. The room we were first assigned upon arrival had the bathrom flooded from a leak on the toilet supply line. There was a big kitchen pan under it that had already overfilled and the floor had about a half inch of water. We were told they were supposed to have fixed earlier that day. The room we were moved to had the same size bed. Reserved and paid for a Queen but the beds are really Double sized (matrimonial). The bed is a 4" mattress on a concrete platform. No hot water in the shower, they said it was because the hotel was full. Toilet roll holder was broken The included WiFi not reachable from the room. Mosquito screen on bathroom window full of holes and room was filled with mosquitos. So we sladdered on replellent that I luckly remenbered had some in my shaving kit. Did not sleep much Won't be going back there It was clean, felt safe, and the included BF was good.

Nice hotel in Puerto San Carlos. The owners daughter, maria, was very welcoming and helpful during our entire stay. She really knows the area as well as other locations in Baja California. She didn't hesitate to recommend other restaurants and bars in San carlos. Don't hesitate to give her a call if you have other questions. A relative, who works with the hotel, is Danny who can help you with a whale watching reservation.

The staff was amazing. They helped with transportation and even made homemade chicken soup for one of our crew that was under the weather. Lovely family owned and staffed business.

El hotel esta muy bien cuidado y atendido. Llegué en temporada baja y casi no había gente. No hay casi nada que hacer en el pueblo.
