We requested a new room because the room we were put in was dirty and was not cleaned properly. The manager was very rude when we requested a new room. The front desk worker was also very rude. Very poorly managed property . Would not recommend this property to stay at.

The main considerations for me when staying at a hotel are that it is clean and quiet. Aspen Inn checked both of those boxes and toss in an incredible view of Lake Superior and you have an awesome play to stay. I was very happy with the stay and the room, as it was clean and spacious.

First room took 2 hands to turn on bathroom faucet while twisting it. Put in another room and faucet was backwards for hot and cold water. Toilet didn't flush properly and baseboards falling off and countless other damaged items. Wouldn't stay there again.

We only stayed one night in Grand Maris. The room was clean, but dated. It served its purpose. Grand Maris is an entranceway to a lot of nature, hunting, fishing, etc. The town itself is okay.

The guy that checked us in was craby. The hot tub was cold. The beds were soo uncomfortable that we were in pain the next morning. To expensive for the value.

We travel frequently and have stayed in all kinds of hotels-fancy to basic. This is a great little hotel that is convenient to everything downtown without having to get in the car. The room is very clean, extremely quiet and we had a nice view of the lake. We don't eat breakfast, so we don't usually care if there's breakfast available. My only complaint is that it's difficult to control the temperature in the room and AC can get a little noisy at night. Otherwise, fantastic stay, especially for the price and location.

Property doesn’t have an elevator, they don’t provide housekeeping unless requested. Breakfast was dismal, just breads, cereal or oatmeal in a box. Location was good for my visit, the view from my window overlooking the lake was good.

It's an old motel but in decent shape for the price. Some of the entrance doors are beat up pretty good. There are three floors and no elevator to use for handicap folks. The TV system is cumbersome and confusing. Not much for a continental breakfast. Coffee, juice. and cold bagels and toast is all. Rooms are clean.

This is a great spot walking distance from so many things in Grand Marais. It's not fancy, but is well taken care of and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The price is also excellent compared to many other places in town. We love that we can walk to Gunflint Tavern and shopping.

We stayed as a family in the double room suite, which is a nice set up for a family with two teenagers, but still quite pricey for an off-season basic motel room, IMO. We appeared to be about the only people in the motel! Which was actually great for my kids in the large pool, hottub and sauna, which is really why we were there. The only problem was the sauna took forever to heat up (and it didn't get too hot) and same with the hot tub, which was not much more than a lukewarm bathtub, but again for my teenagers to play all afternoon with no one else there on a late March day, it was great. There was also a "personal hot tub" in the listing for the room. We weren't expecting much and didn't know what that meant, but it was a bathtub in the room, standard issue, so maybe we missed something. Overall the location is why we stayed, so we could walk to all the shops around GM and be central and cozy for a few days on the North Shore, so it was perfect for our very non-posh needs. Breakfast was super basic. A bagel and some coffee, but again, fine. Would have liked to see a lot less styrofoam cups. Didn't know you could still buy those things. Would make it more eco-friendly. Friendly checkin and otherwise no real interaction with staff.

Lots of hot water for the jacuzzi and the tub. Superb view of the harbor and town. Close to restaurants and shopping. An ocean-like lake adds to the charm of the town.
