I feel a little bit harsh about leaving this review, but it is factual. The shower is excellent, but it’s a shame that there was no body wash or shampoo in either of the two bottles. The room was exceptionally warm and the windows barely opened and there was no fan. The milk for the coffee was out of date and the carpet had been cleaned last in the 1900s. It’s a real shame because the pub downstairs looked really really nice. I think with a little bit of upkeep, this could be a really nice place, but I couldn’t recommend it right now.

A lovely pub with a stunning beer garden and direct access to the canal path for walks to Carnforth Morecambe and Lancaster. Only issue was the heat in the room which I appreciate it was unusually hot but room 3 also has a large noisy extractor fan outside the window so it was either heat or noise. The fan does get turned off at night. Would still stay again and the food was excellent.

The bar area was OK, but the room was tired and needed a lick of paint. You have to leave the hotel via the fire escape if you head off before 9am, which is quite novel.The beer garden is great as is the canal which is just outside of the beer garden.

Yes everything was great especially the food

During stay for 3 nights had 2 rooms due to lack of cleanliness. Staff were accommodating for change of room, however when speaking to the owner Jason he was rude and dismissive. Front desk staff were also unhelpful at check out. Access to rooms was very difficult before 9am or after 10pm as front door was not open and had to access via fire exit.

Nice hotel well situated in the area. Comfortable room , however I couldn’t believe I was charged over £12 for a glass of wine in the bar. I wouldn’t expect to pay London prices in the north of England

Very dirty room, the floor was covered in dust and debris, there was toothpaste splashed on the bathroom walls and hairs in the sink. The pub was lovely but the room cleanliness needs serious improvement.

Very friendly and inviting place was there on a Saturday night so was very busy and had a great atmosphere.

Short break with my dog had a great time staff brilliant

When booking, I hadn't noticed that I had to be checked in by 20:30, which is a challenge. After ringing to find out if there was any flexibility, I was told that as long as I was there by 21:00, someone could check me in. Arrived at 20:35 to be told that they would need to contact the manager, as they didn't know how to check in after being unable to make contact. The pleasant, helpful and apologetic young ladies worked it out. Breakfast was included in the rate, but as they don't open until 9am, breakfast was not an option as I needed to be away. This hotel is not suitable for business trips with mid-evening check-in and late breakfast. If I had noticed (check-in ) and been advised before (breakfast time), I would not have stayed here. The helpful staff need to be trained on how to do check-ins.

Lovely room, spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed Nice size bathroom with complimentary soaps, shampoos etc All rooms on first floor so could be an issue if you have mobility problems Royal hotel bar/ restaurant quite busy so would recommend booking if you want to dine in. Food quality was excellent and a great service given. Decent size car park across the road, always found a space to park even when it was busy in the bar I would have no hesitation staying here again if I am in the area

Great hotel, great food and very welcoming

extremely expensive for the state of the rooms and the having to go and ask for some heating because the eoom was at below 16c. breakfast was expensive for waht you got.

Great value for money and food was good too

An unexpected stay here after a cancelled ferry at Heysham but what a gem, such helpful staff, off road parking, amazing food and spotless clean. Ignore any dubious reviews, yes there are tired spots but these are all far outweighed by the positives. Only a 15 minute drive to Heysham too…

Nice hotel - good food, doggy super-friendly (even meals and ice-cream) - car park huge but not in peak times - only negative was the walls a little thin but nothing major. Distance to carnforth, lancaster and morecambe fine. Lovely people.

Room clean, linen well provided, crisp and clean, bed very comfortable. Television good. Good on-siute toilet and shower . Staff friendly. Out of hours exit requires use of fire escape to poorly lit area of uneven ground. Lighting to that area needed. Otherwise carry a torch. Would defiantly stay again.
