First of all the property owners didn’t answer messages and the phone number doesn’t work, neither the one on Hotels.com or their website. Technically Greenwich I suppose but let’s say more the Woolwich end. The outside of the property is run down and access was via a fire escape from a lane down the side of the pub. The whole property was dark and dingy (although arguably clean) and the room we were shown to was dark, stuffy, more than basic and quite frankly horrible. I took 5 minutes before we said “we are not staying here”, we left and booked a room at the Admiral Hardy which was amazing!!! I know it says a budget hotel but there is budget and there is this place. Staff were fine but honestly without a shadow of a doubt the worst “hotel” I have ever booked.

So much wrong here. We were informed by Hotels.com that we had to contact the Crown rooms at least 24 hours prior to arrival for check in instructions. We did so via hotels.com messaging service twice - but did not receive a response. We also then tried the crown rooms directly (again no response) and tried to call the crown rooms (the phone number on their website is discontinued). There was also no way of contacting anyone on hotels.com for an update (VERY POOR!) Upon arrival - we had to go into the bar to check in (no issue). However, a young man who was on his own in the pub had to leave the customers who had just walked in unattended to show us to our room. According to their website the pub has just been renovated - and clearly all the rubbish had been left in full view of the room guests at the bottom of the stairs at the back of the pub - so not a great first impression. Not really any dialogue about anything from him. Just a key and a room. There was a towel on the floor next to the bed (when I picked it up - it was clearly there to hide a stain. There was a free standing fan in the room which was really disgusting - the TV (too big and too low - bit of a H&S issue) was covered in dust, as were the pictures and the sides within the room) The pillows had no protectors on them and only one cover, so although clean,, it will only be a matter of weeks before those too are disgusting. The bathroom - although the floor was very slippery was at least clean.

The room was cold and damp, the carpet was soaking wet and the bedding was cold and damp. The heating didn't work, and the shower flooded over the tray as the plug hole didn't drain. Thankfully we arrived into bed at 3am and left at 10am meaning we didn't have to put up with it for long. £130 is very steep for a wet damp room!

Because it was above a restaurant / bar, there was a lot of noise up at least 11 pm and probably beyond (we were exhausted on arrival from NA, so were able to sleep). The next 2 nights the restaurant was closed, but there were doing construction until past midnight with hammering and lots of noise. Not nice. Also, it was impossible to check in early. The hotel portion is above the restaurant / bar that is not open until 3 pm. We didn't realize this, so had to travel around with our suitcases the day we arrived. The next day, the restaurant was closed and a new guest was hovering around outside trying to find a way to check in. It's not set up like a normal hotel, so, beware. Once we had our keys, it was fine. Entrance is around back and up stairs with a locked (keypad) door.

Great atmoshpere in the pub, guys who worked in there were really nice. Room was fine and functional, got what we paid for really. 10% off at the bar was a bonus! Super convenient spot for us as we were up there for a concert at the O2.

Fantastic welcome and service. Lovely clean, comfortable room. Pub downstairs very nice and the pizza was great. I was attending an event at the O2 which was a 10 min bus ride away or it’s walkable in about 30 mins. Only thing to be aware of is that the rooms are accessed via a gate and metal stairs around the side of the building which may not be to some people’s liking. It was ok for me and I’d consider staying here again.

Rooms are stylish and clean. However, more furniture to hang clothes is needed. Also, a full length mirror would be useful

The young man at the bar when we arrived was super friendly and got us checked in quickly and showed us to our room. The room was very tidy and quiet (Although we were at the back of the building away from the road). The location is great and is around a 25-30 minute walk to the O2 or you can get a bus from just across the road. There is lots of little cafes and bakeries close by too which made getting breakfast/brunch easy. The pub itself has great craft beers and the pizza was amazing, it was very handy it was just below our room! Overall a good find and will definitely stay again if we go to the O2.

This is a room that is part of and upstairs to a pub. It was clean and comfortable, though small. The friday night had a DJ downstairs and so it was not quiet. There was also a raging row with doors being slammed by other guests, and no staff around to sort it out. Saturday night was better - though I had to unplug the water fridge in the hall because it sounded like a train. The place is in Greenwich, so it is accessible to Excel, the Millennium Dome, the cloud cable car etc.
