Lovely room with extremely comfy bed and pillows. Delicious breakfast and friendly welcoming staff. Very quirky and we loved staying in an historic building inside the walls of York.

Really quaint hotel, great location and beautiful rooms with a really comfy bed! We would have absolutely loved our stay here, however there was a beer keg delivery at about 6am during our stay which sounded and felt like an earthquake, we were on the third floor and this delivery lasted for over an hour and half. I’d recommend checking with staff if a delivery is planned when you arrive as our stay would have been perfect without this but it was so loud for so long it was impossible to sleep so we had no choice but to get up and were very tired for our second day exploring York instead of feeling well rested on our Christmas break. Other than this the hotel was really lovely so it was a shame as if I could guarantee a delivery wasn’t to take place during our stay I would definitely stay again as we loved the quaint and York style pub feel of the hotel!

Great hotel, right in the heart of York, next to the Minister. Helpful friendly staff provide a great service, excellent breakfast and good selection of local hand pulled brews at the bar.

All was good about the room apart the bathroom. First, the light switch above the sink was hard to turn on/off. Second, there was no rubber matmamat for the shower

Everything about The Fat badger was great! The location couldn't have been better for getting to and from the bus station or railway station. The accommodation was great! The room was so clean and well maintained. The staff everywhere was so helpful. The breakfast was so tasty with a lot of options. I would definitely stay again.

First and foremost, this is not a five-star accommodation. However, if you’re looking for an hotel with old charm with a beer garden and fantastic staff, this will foot the bill. The beer garden had the best mac & cheese and parsnip soup you’ve ever had in your life. Location is extremely convenient to the train station, York Minster, restaurants, pubs and shopping. They’re not a lot of rooms and there is no elevator. Some doors may not close, and floors may be a little warped, but it is worth the price for a quaint accommodation that has everything. If you need accessible lodging, this is not for you.

Wonderful old pub/inn. Great location, helpful staff and an excellent breakfast. Lots of narrow stairs so ask for a room on a lower floors if stairs are an issue!

Fantastic location, however small bedroom and squeaky bed. Also due to the summer weather very warm as no air con. Lovely and friendly people and the secret beer garden is great. Thanks

Very old property with an antique charm. Our bedroom was very well taken care of. Our only complaint would be the bathroom being a little narrow and damp. But these are things that must be traded off for when considering the age of the building. Its proximity to the Yorkminster made it very nice and easy. The food and drink as well as food service was very good. Servers and bartender were knowledgeable about the drinks and gave us good advice when it was needed.

Standard inn room. Hot days, no AC, but the window was only able to be opened 75mm so no way to effectively cool the room, even at night.

AMAZING location in a historic inn, cute views from my 4th-floor room (naturally no elevator, so keep that in mind). The food and drinks were top-notch, and it's only a short walk to York Minster and the art gallery, Yorkshire Museum, Museum Gardens, etc. I will definitely stay here again!
