No one should go to this hotel. The whole place is filthy, curtains are dirty, PG pools all over the windows and balcony and you will be breathing only damp. What they put on the website is completely scam. Showers are dirty, toilet are old with flushing not working. Drug addict sits on the stairs at nights with no receptionist after 10pm very unsafe. Due to the above reasons I have to check out on the next day although l booked for two days because my children will not have another night at this place . I will advise Expedia to remove this hotel from your website because it’s shameful to accept such low star hotel with awful quality for your customers. I did trusted it because l thought Expedia hotel are of high quality based from my previous booking but thus one is no no. For your reputation it will be better to remove Afton hotel from your list . Look for other low but good quality hotel in Eastbourne. Its better for your agents to visit abs inspect the hotel before you put it on your website.

The hotel room was adequate for a short stay (as I stayed 2 days) however, the beds are not comfortable and you can feel the springs in the mattress. It was quite hot in the room so we asked for a fan and got one, however it wasn’t very powerful so made little to no difference. The hotel staff were friendly and kind. The hotel itself is a bit outdated but adequate. The showers are quite small so if your a larger person, you most likely wouldn’t be able to get into it.

Absolutely lovely staff and building! Room could do with a bit of a dusting and the pillows were very flat but those minor things did not make a negative impact on the stay. Would happily stay again.

Room was adequate. Sheets and bathroom clean. Hot with no fan/air con. Small room with tea making equipment. Only one pillow which was very thin. Signage needs to be clearer - I ended up in the basement with no idea where I was and how to find reception. No wifi in rooms. Toiletries very limited. Parking was £2.50 for a 24 hour permit but there was nowhere to park near the hotel when I went back after my evening out. I was only staying one night so I did not bother to complain. Staff were eager to please- but the hotel is in need of refurb

Just to be clear, this isn't a five star hotel. Then again, for the price, it was excellent. The staff were very helpful (even down to recommendations for nearby restaurants) and the hotel provided exactly what we were looking for - a basic, clean, comfortable room for the night. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was clean, twin beds comfy, bathroom good. Doesn't provide shampoo/conditioner. Does have soap and shower gel. We chose the middle of a heatwave to come. No aircon, so room got very hot. Fans were available to borrow, free of charge and room had a big sash window we could open right up. Tea and coffee facilities were available in the room. No restaurant, although there is a bar. Breakfast not available. However, lots of places doing coffee and pastries nearby. Excellent position for beach and pier, and lots of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. We came to watch the tennis tournament held at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne and stayed 3 nights. It was about a 15 minute stroll. We found the hotel perfectly adequate for our needs and reasonably priced. Would stay there again.

The smell that hit me when I walked into my room was far from welcoming… like 40 year old dirty carpet heated up by the June heatwave. Bedding was shockingly bad… mattress was beyond dead. Base probably also dead. 4 pillows… just got worse each one I tried. Some sort of bugs / fleas present. Fridge… dirty and more foul smells. Balcony was a nice touch, but chairs broken Bathroom just about passable but was a furnace. Extractor fan was very noisy and in need of a clean Whole room needs a DEEP clean Hotel super dated and in desperate need of a refurb Will not be returning

Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the room was clean. The decor was dated but everything was well maintained. The hotel was dog friendly and in a central location with a sea view and lots of amenities nearby. We had a lovely stay.

The staff at the Afton were very friendly and professional. Apart from needing a bit of updating, the room provided us with everything we needed and a lovely sea view. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay

Hotel in very good location, but is just that. It's very old and really not a proper clean hotel. We got a metal bed, which one did noice with every single move.

The room was basic. Mattress stained. It was out of season but disappointed that there was no one on reception for a lot of our stay. I think we was only ones in hotel.when we was going out Saturday morning there was nobody around and we had to ring number on website to get someone to come to reception. Didn't sleep well Friday night so decided to come home Saturday instead of staying at the hotel another day. ☹️
