San Nicolas is a cozy, comfortable and clean hotel on the outskirts of the old city center. It has the charm of an old spanish stone house. The staff, restaurant-next door, room fridge, Dia around the block were all great amenities. Just take notice that there is no water kettle (for coffee/tea in the morning), and its a 15-20 min walk to cathedral and tour buses.

Great property after 12 days of walking a mudfest of a Camino. The proprietor was welcoming and so helpful. Located just outside the old city walls just a 10 minute walk to the cathedral. The restaurant next door was a great spot for a glass of wine

Great location

Location was a bit away from historic center but not an issue. The location does not have 24-hour front desk but Alejandro was incredibly helpful and very friendly, mi tocayo. The property is very charming and you will not have a run of the mill experience you do with hotels which is refreshing. Although you can clearly hear when other guests come in late at night, I would describe the property as quiet and inviting to rest. Bed was comfortable and property is clean. I did not eat at the restaurant next door but it looked very nice and the courtyard is beautiful!

Staying in a historic building generates a lot of ambience. Alejandro was very helpful to optimize our comfort.

This is a small family run hotel. It’s a 10 minute walk into the old town and 15 minute walk to the train station. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned everyday. The hotel does not offer food but there is a restaurant next door and lots of cafes nearby. Parking is in a 24 hour underground parking lot about a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is an historic building but sympathetically renovated. Pilgrims walk past the hotel on the way to the cathedral so if you are undertaking the pilgrimage this is a good choice.

Great hotel, old with a super restaurant and patio

A charming building. We did have trouble finding the entrance. A passer-by showed us the buzzer. We ate at the adjacent restaurant which was super convenient and had superb food.

The San Nicolas was absolutely breathtaking when I walked in. The entrance was unassuming but when I stepped in I felt transported back in time. It truly was a wondervul three nights. Thank you Alejandro...

Beautiful historic building that has been meticulously maintained. Alejandro truly goes above and beyond to look after guests and make sure their stay is perfect. The hotel is a little outside of the historic center, but the short walk is worth it. Would recommend / stay again.

Wonderful stay, place was spotless and charming. Very close walk to the center. Host and cleaning girl very very friendly and accomodating. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to book a stay in Santiago!

An excellent small hotel with a most professional helpful and friendly owner

Really enjoyed our stay here… a little off the beaten path and uphill walkable to the old town in 15 minutes. Owner was really friendly and able to answer all our questions… the inn is very quiet. The attached restaurant was fantastic. I would stay again.

Casa San Nicolas is truly unique. Historical building with very comfortable rooms. Close to centre of Santiago (pleasant 15 min.walk). Alejandro is such a thoughtful host. Already planning a return visit.

Beautiful old building well restored, very attractive. Associated restaurant and terrace is lovely. Manager Alejandro so friendly and helpful. Grade C are are.

The hotel and room were charming. My only complaint is that the hotel is at the bottom of a steep, long street up to the cathedral and center of town. For anyone not in prime physical shape the walk is not a pleasant experience.

A very convenient small hotel. The staff is professional and friendly. A well appointed room with proper upkeep by management. A great stay while in Santiago de Compostela. Alanjandro the manager is very attentive to the needs of the guests. We recommend the hotel for its charm & convenience.

I had a second floor room with a private bath. The room overlooked to courtyard with the restaurant across the way. It was nice to sit with a glass of wine at night. Short walk to the cathedral. I would certainly recommend San Nicolas to anyone who asked.
