The person who checked me in was polite and friendly. However, the photos of this accommodation are very misleading. The rooms are smaller than expected and much less appealing than the photos suggest. There was also no microwave in the room and I was told I could use the one in the main kitchen. The price of this accommodation was overpriced and did not reflect the quality of the room or hotel. I would have expected this to be marketed at around £40-£45 per night as opposed to around £110. I checked out around five minutes after being shown to my room and booked another hotel 20 minutes down the road with a much more accurate advert. I am very surprised that this hotel is marketed as a wedding venue as it seems very run down. It requires lots of updates. The review below that is labelled as 'poor' is a very accurate summary of the venue. I initially thought that I had pulled up at the wrong location when I arrived in the carpark because it looked so run down.

This hotel is poor, the shower door was hanging off, but this did not really matter as the shower itself did not work properly as there was no water coming out. The TV did not work properly, the bed was uncomfortable. The hotel sells itself as a wedding venue, would not like to attend a wedding there. The location is next to some kind of lorry yard and building waste recovery site. Staff were unhelpful. The cost for the rooms does not reflect what you would expect, reminds me of a very poor Travel lodge. It is fair to say, that I have stayed in 100's of hotels and this place ranks in the bottom quarter. I understand it is new owners, perhaps they will sort the issues out and run the hotel in a way that paying guests would expect for the money it costs to stay there. Also the restaurant is closed most of the week??

I arrived at the hotel, and was greeted by a person who seemed to barely speak english, and was asking me for my room number when i was trying to check in. My room was alright, except for the strong light just outside my window which kept the room illuminated for the entire night. there were blackout curtains, but they were hung too far from the window to be effective. The shower had very poor water pressure, just a dribble from the head when fully on. The room had not been cleaned very well, I kept finding glitter.

The whole place was like a ghost town. The room had radiators still on the walls but not working so wall mounted electric radiators had been installed which were OK but just felt bodged and cheap.

Arrived to no one on the tatty looking reception, had to call the number blue tacked to the door. I was eventually escorted to my very small room, which was lovely and warm, unfortunately the tv didn't work, so had to call the guy to fix it, 20 minutes of trying failed . I was given another room which was a "deluxe". This Deluxe room was freezing only heated with a little wall heater. The bathroom was massive and really cold as it became apparent that the central heating didn't work and the heater wouldn't stretch that far, it was a very very quick shower! the mattress felt like it was stuffed with springs and straw. and the most uncomfortable i have been on . Its a shame as it seemed to have never recovered from Covid and is in need of some investment.

Room was great, bathroom well designed and plenty of toiletries. Staff great and the breakfast was lovely. The option to dine in the evening at the on site restaurant is well worth it. I will be rebooking my next trip down here.

Very cold as the hotel cannot use the gas central heating and runs on electric heating. Shower and face basin drained very slowly.

I stayed at Courtyard Lodge for 1 night only in a single room. My brother & sister-in-law also stayed and had a double room. The rooms are not large & mine appeared to be a renovated ( possible) storage room or the former entrance of another unit. I felt I was walking into a cupboard compared to the other rooms that had proper front doors. There is an awkward entrance that means you enter & then step up onto a tiled floor. A disabled person would not manage. The room is in need of modernising with plain white/greying painted walls & tired brown carpet but was clean. There is a single wardrobe, a bedside cabinet and an awkward lift up wall table & a single chair. There is a mini fridge you really have to bend down to use if you wished to. & a small area for a kettle, with sachets of milk, tea & coffee. The bathroom leads off the room & is furnished in a modern way however, you need to step over a sort of mini skirting board to access the bathroom. I didn't realise & tripped after taking g my shoes off & now have a bruised painful toe. A similar untidy design is at the base of the entrance to the walk in shower. I The room is heated by a small electric heater on the wall & I had to ask for the temperature to be increased as the room was chilly upon arrival. In my opinion, this room shouldn't be used as a guest room but I made do for 1 night. We were attending a celebration in Letchworth. I note Hotels.com having a different rating to Bookings.com.

On arrival, no one at reception, we had to go and wonder around. Checked in to be told that the restaurant was closed and so was the bar! Right next to the A1 so nothing in a walking distance. Room was cold, so cold that the bedding almost felt damp. We was told via text if we wanted to use the electric heater to follow the instructions. There were no instructions. Heater didn’t work. They provided me a small portable one instead. Bathroom was extremely mouldy on the ceiling. All of the above could have been overlooked had i not experienced the breakfast. It was abysmal. I have genuinely never had a worse English breakfast in my life. It was not edible.
