Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, nicknamed "the durian" by locals, is a multipurpose arts center often compared to the Sydney Opera House. Various plays, musicals, dance recitals, concerts, and other shows are performed throughout the year at the Esplanade's acclaimed Theatre and Concert Hall. The complex also houses a shopping mall, a library, several smaller venues, and the Roof Terrace that offers great views of Marina Bay from above.
