Mercure Tunbridge Wells Hotel

Room was small and needed updating. Lots of noise down the corridor at all times of the night, very early wake up from staff being very loud outside the room. In the restaurant the server didn’t inform us of the set menu or the deals that were on offer, the table next to us were told about it by a different server. The soup of the day was different depending on what server you got. Staff were rude and too busy setting up breakfast to deal with any queries. There is no pool. Despite it being on the fire exit maps. Staff at front desk told us it didn’t exist. If it doesn’t exist, why is it on a map. Will not be staying again

For me the hotel was cold except for the bedroom which had a heater.The breakfast was excellent but the evening meal I had in the restaurant was disgusting.

Fantastic stay

Not what we were led to believe

Pretty decent stay. However the staff are rude. We were standing at the bar for 20 minutes waiting to be served a drink. When we asked the manager she replied “this is how we operate around here.” I was shocked and so was nearby guests, they even commented on her rude manner. Shame when customer service should be paramount in a hotel.

Location and transport to get to places

Adequate place for a one night stay.

Our romm was very good, clean, comfortable and nocely sutuated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We only stayed for one night, but really enjoyed our night at the hotel and would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

Pleasant staff, clean enough. No aircon, room tired, small. Not a four star experience.

For car drivers a handy location for A21, M25, M20 etc. 5 minutes to Tunbridge Wells (not at rush hour). The hospital is virtually next door and a 5 minute walk to the fantastic Black Horse pub and restaurant in Pembury. The hotel room felt a little tired and could do with a freshen up.

Property tired but staff fantastic

This hotel for the price is really dated and needing work. The lady on reception was lovely at check in but on arrival at the room the tv remote didnt work, the room was very cold and the shower was leaking. The room also seemed very grubby and worn. There was noone on housekeeping so the receptionist had to look for another remote. We didnt sleep well as the matress was over soft so newer matresses required. Used it as a stopover before an operation and the location and the receptionist welcome was the only positive of the stay.

We were incredibly well looked after by all the staff we met there. We had told them my husband had mobility issues and we had a room just nearby reception and the dining area, making access really easy. They had also given us a room with 2 comfy chairs which myself, and especially my husband, really appreciated after travelling. There was a great selection of choices at breakfast, with staff replacing items as soon as they were needed. The Mercure is a great base to explore the local area, we were able to really rest and relax. We will definitely be visiting again!

There was cob web on the ceiling just across from the bed, on the telephone side. Also there was dust around the bottom of the toilet at the back. Apart from that it was ok.
