Welcoming pub, just stand between the beams if you're 6ft+ tall. Be aware breakfast only starts at 0830 which is too late for most working people but they made me a sandwich to take with me instead so that was appreciated.

Parking difficult. Rushed greeting as pub was busy. Reasonable choice for evening. Food chosen very good. Room small with tiny bathroom. Shower runs hot and cold, not able to get steady temperature. Walks thin as heard snoring from next room.

Staff lovely, room was tired we supposed to have a rear room overlooking the garden but not beer excellent, locals lovely. Food ok but my steak was warm ,no one came to ask everything ok .
Breakfast no choice just offered a full English, no cereals ,no fresh apple juice.
Room needs to be updated, no chair, and the shower had been altered and lowered but the 6mm cable was not in containment, going straight into the shower.

Fantastic old pub with 4 rooms above. Room was clean and had an en-suite (room 1). As it was an old building the floors sloped but the bed had not been levelled so you nearly rolled out. A bath towel was marked/stained bath towel but there was another one so that was not a huge issue. Paint on the walls in the shower was badly peeling off.
Food in the evening in the pub was excellent. Breakfast was delicious.
Staff were very helpful and friendly and waiting staff superb.
Overall, a great stay and would recommend.

Room was advertised as 'Classic double room ensuite garden view'. During the booking process I wrote in the request box Vegan food. I also called the pub and spoke to the manager, to ask about vegan options for breakfast and if I had to bring my own vegan bread, non-dairy spread and soya milk. They told me that there were vegan options.
On arrival I saw that the view was of a roof and scaffolding, not a garden. See photograph. Only a small wardrobe with a shelf, which was the storage area for spare linen. No drawers and could not unpack for the duration of my stay. Dirt and dust on most surfaces. Fire door was permanently propped open with a door wedge. No
dairy alternative provided in the room or at breakfast, as requested and bought my own soya milk and bread for breakfast. Room
not cleaned or bin emptied for duration of stay.
Breakfast on the first morning was chaotic as a member of staff failed to turn up. The chef did their best in the situation but did not know where anything was, as it was the first time that he had done breakfast there. During breakfast on the second day, a different member of staff couldn't find the vegan sausages and offered me eggs, which I don't eat, as I'm vegan. In view of the unpleasant stay, I spoke to one of the managers, who did not appear concerned about the unsatisfactory standard. I decided to leave early as I was not prepared to stay any longer. At £105 per night bed and breakfast, this does not represent good value for money.

Lovely friendly staff and restaurant was brilliant. The room was small, beds and linen were clean and comfortable. The only disappointment was the shower room floor hadn’t been cleaned properly. It was sticky and had some dirty patches. Other than that, we would certainly stay here again.

I travelled to Rose and Crown from Scotland as I needed to collect a car. There was a struggle finding a taxi from the station. I messaged the hotel to see if they knew anyone. Very swift response and gave me some numbers of a taxi companies that I hadn't tried yet.
Hotel was nice and clean and a welcoming environment from the staff and even the local punters! Room was very spacious and had everything that you need. Bed was very comfortable and even though it is a pub, you couldn't hear anything from the pub downstairs.
If I was down here again, Rose & Crown would be the first place I would book!
