This was a guesthouse where we were greeted by the owner as we drove up. She showed us our room, which was clean and comfortable. She also made wonderful pancakes for breakfast for everyone, it felt like a family meal. I would recommend to anyone wanting something other than the sterile hotel room experience.

The moment I walked in I felt I was at home. However, what made the experience is the host in the morning. Over coffee, I had a good conversation with the proprietor and he absolutely set my day off on the right foot. He was telling all about his personal experiences with the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and showed me a book and some personal photos. I also was able to ask some questions about like in general in the Skógafoss area. He also has the most friendly border collie a person could ever know. I delayed leaving in the morning because I so enjoyed the company plus the information. Please, if you are driving the south coast or the ring road, stop here for great conversation, and a homey feel. I have already decided that when I return to Iceland, I will make a point to stay here again. My favorite guest house I stayed in during my time in Iceland. Also, checking in is easy-you can come in at any time and they are ready. The breakfast with homemade pancakes was great! At least the night I was there, the guests were quiet but friendly in the morning. There are games and books available as well, and great views of the ocean and fields and mountains and Vestmannaeyjar island. And truly local advice. Thank you for the wonderful experience!!!!!

The owners of the guesthouse we're exceedingly friendly and cordial. However, the first night a couple were cooking some strange lamb stew that made the downstairs smelly. I think the other guests could have refrained from frying weird food.

The location near Vik and the attractions are great. The host was very friendly. It had a welcoming farm feel to the stay. At the time we booked it was about the same price range as other self-contained cottages that we enjoyed a lot more, but I see the price has dropped a lot since. There were 7 rooms that shared 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. It meant when arriving waiting for two or three other guests to finish making their dinners first before being able to use the kitchen. In the morning, sharing of the 2 bathrooms turned into a very patient waiting game. Another guest stayed in the bathroom for an hour, despite knocking on the door to encourage them to be considerate to other guests. The rooms did seem well sound insolated so we were not bothered by noises from other guests (or they were also just quiet.)

The Raudafell 1 was our first night stay in Iceland. It is centrally located to view the area waterfalls n iconic DC-3 on the beach. Carla made us feel at home by preparing pancakes (breakfast) for the folks staying at the Guesthouse. We also learned about some history of Iceland before she had to makeready for the new arrivals. Great stay!

There’s no freezer so if you have any frozen food then good luck with that. There’s only 2 bathrooms for 8 rooms and people are constantly trying to open the door without knocking. Also there’s no towel so expect to be very wet after shower if you did not bring your own. There is a door in the shower place that’s connected to outside and there’s a storm the night we stayed and the wind kept howling into the shower area and it was freezing...the shower hose is auto stop every like 10 seconds so I have to keep pressing on the knob while trying to shower....very inconvenient....and the room is the smallest I’ve ever stayed out of the whole 11 days in Iceland

We loved our two night stay at Raudafell Guest House! It's set up more like a bed and breakfast with shared bathrooms, kitchen, living space, and breakfast (pancakes, yogurt, toast, ham, hard boiled eggs, etc.) included. There was an issue with our booking that we realized the day of and so I called the hotel to see if they accommodate our request. Heida was so great and moved things around to allow my friend and I to have two beds instead of one, which we REALLY appreciated. We moved some of the furniture around to fit our needs, but we were able to get around with two of us and a lot of luggage. Heida lives just across the street and is the one that owns, takes care of the guest house, and makes breakfast. She was helpful with information about the culture and the surrounding area. The house was updated and clean, very comfortable to stay in! Free parking and wifi. Only two bathrooms for about 7 rooms, but we didn't have any issues with access to them due to people getting up and leaving at different times. Just a few minutes from Skogafoss Waterfall, which was one of the things that we wanted to see. This is the perfect place if you want to see the sites on the southeastern part of Iceland! I would go back there if I ever returned to Iceland.

Old farmhouse re-done for accomodation. 7 private rooms but only 2 shared bathrooms!!! Our room number 1 had an amazing view but was so small we could not even fit the suitcase. Other rooms seemed to be bigger. Included breakfast was very nice, but again the space to eat it was extremely cramped considering number of guests. I also did not like the fact that breakfast was supposed to start at 8am, but the girl who was preparing it barely came at 8am and then started to make coffee etc. I was disappointed considering the price. Location is beautiful though.

A comfortable rural retreat with a terrific view of the area. Surrounded by mountains, farms and the ocean. Very quiet and comfortable. Owner is pleasant to chat with. Ample parking and a short distance from the main highway. Good restaurant nearby.
