Very simple but also very convenient and clean. Front desk was excellent, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is just a bagel and small coffee

Located in a more residential area of Shimokita while still only being a few minutes walk from the bustling Shimokitazawa station area. Quiet, rooms are nice and staff is kind and helpful. Shared lobby with a nice cafe frequented by neighborhood locals, it's a good hotel to relax at while not being far from a couple train stations and plenty to do

Superb location, facility conditions are lagged behind compared Japanese standards and other accommodations. One of the best traits of the hotel is the coffee shop in the lobby

Great location and walkable neighbourhood around Shimokitazawa. The staff are friendly but the cleaners need to ensure they vacuum the floor.

Lovely area -- chill vibes and not too busy. The cafe (Sidewalk Coffee Roasters) within the hotel had excellent quality coffee, fresh and tasty bagels and always friendly staff. Proximity to two different subway stations was really convenient and the surrounding area (shopping, cafes, bakeries) had a really great vibe. The rooms themselves are pretty sparse and bare bones/no frills. But if you're the type where the purpose of your hotel room is to sleep, shower and keep your luggage while you're out exploring, then this shouldn't be a problem! Overall Mustard was a great place to stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

This is a glorified hostel that costs far more than its worth. The rooms feel like a prison with cramped quarters, stark white walls and high windows. The carpets are filthy and look like they have not been cleaned in years. The neighborhood is hip but out-of-the-way. The staff is friendly but not very helpful.

The area is fantastic. The hallways aren’t the most beautiful and the rooms were very simple with not much character, however they weee functional. The windows didn’t open and could get stuffy.

Located in a residential neighbor near vibrant area of coffee houses, small bars, restaurants and retail that attract 20s-30s year old Japanese. Very quiet in morning with few places to eat until later in the morning. The exceptions are coffee shop at hotel opens at 7 a.m. and Brooklyn Roasting Company, with a nice breakfast, opens at 8 a.m. Hotel attracts foreign tourists.

My wife and I stayed for 8 nights. The reception area, front deck, and coffee bar area were great. Our room had 2 twin mattresses pushed together on one platform. The mattresses were comfortable, but they did slide around on the platform. The room was very tight, with room for the bed and a small desk area. One suitcase went under the bed, other bags lined the hallway. The shower area was also tight, in the same area as the toilet and the sink. No dresser or any drawers for clothing. The suitcases had to be placed atop the bed to access clothing. There were no decorations on the walls and the paint was scuffed and dingy. My visiting son said the room reminded him of a bad college dorm room. Wall to wall carpeting. Housekeeping was scheduled 2 times during our stay. Our allergies acted up in the room, I think because of the carpeting. The front desk staff was excellent - very friendly and helpful. The coffee bar, which is where you receive pre-paid breakfast meals was very good, with fresh bagels and spreads each morning. The hotel is very conveniently located, near shopping, numerous restaurants, and the train station. The room had a phonograph to play vinyl albums which were available at the front desk. We did not utilize this amenity. The front of the hotel seems to be a community meeting place, with numerous people, their dogs, and children congregating on the front deck and accessing the coffee shop. Friendly people, and noise was not an issue.

We loved staying here during our time in Tokyo! The area was quiet and very cool! The hotel room was comfortable and I enjoyed the amenities. I was worried because I saw a comment about the beds being hard and while they were firmer than what we are used to we surprisingly didn’t have trouble sleeping!
