Castaways Resort was wonderful. The chalet was clean, comfortable, and had a wonderful view of the sea. The restaurant was good and had a great variety for breakfast. It is out of the way, but if you’re looking for someplace remote and quiet, this place is excellent.

Castaways is a fantastic property to stay at. The location, the views from our chalet, were all incredible! Deepak at the reception was very accommodating and most helpful with our queries and requests. If you want to truly unwind and relax, then this resort is an absolute must!! The best part is that you can arrive here (from Auckland) in an hour and feel like you’re so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. 👍🤗

This is one of the best resort with spectacular views. I am glad we stayed over here for our Valentine's day. Beautiful ocean view from top of the hill, we got magnificent sun set. Very few negatives, there was a glass bottle with cigarette butts in it in the gallery, the water kettle was rusted. Other than this we loved this property. Highly recommend.

More than a view is needed for a pleasant stay. To classify the property as a resort is a stretch. Calling and waiting for a golf buggy to take you everywhere, including to your car is ridiculous. Also, the villas are not properly sound proofed to rent to two different sets of guests. Worst of all, the cleaning services were completely unreliable. We were even told we had to be in the villa when cleaners came. We didn’t travel 12,000km to sit in a room waiting for the cleaners to come! As beautiful as the view is, we can’t recommend the Castaways Resort for more than a one night stay.

This is one of the best resort with spectacular views. I am glad we stayed over here for our Valentine's day. Beautiful ocean view from top of the hill, we got magnificent sun set. Unusual hotel by a black sand beach with an ocean view with a range of accommodation going up a steep hill. Quiet, wind blown and can be sunny depending on the changing weather with views of the Tasman Sea.

Great two bedroom suite with two bathrooms attached however shower was old and couldn’t adjust or remove head piece.
Birds nesting in wall and made noises in the night and chirping early in the morning.

View from villa is amazing, our two-bedroom villa has all the rooms facing the ocean with great view, and is very well maintained. Services are very limited- front desk seems never pick up internal phone calls; after we reached them with our local cellphone, the service they promised never showed up…also never mentioned from resort information that they don’t provide daily room clean service and if you want it would be extra charge.
Breakfast buffet is okay but was very crowded and we waited 5 minutes to get a small table, but no one came to clean the table and we had to go get cutlery from servant ourselves.

I had a wonderful time away just what I needed . I see other reviews saying the villa Rooms were tired but honestly mine was fine and I stay in lots of accommodation .
The online room service ordering system didn’t work . How am I surprised but by phoning the restaurant this was easy overcome and they were most help indeed .

All the staff we interacted with were lovely. The chalet we stayed in was spacious and had everything you could need but the rooms were a little tired if that is something that matters to you. The views are truly spectacular. We will definitely be back.
