I last stayed at the Vardo Hotel in early February '13, when there was very little sunshine. This time in early July '19 was midnight sun time, and the views of the harbor were great, with all the Eider Ducks and other sea birds. Since '13 they renovated the place, and both the room and the restaurant were better. I ate at the restaurant twice with great food each time, and breakfast (and lunch if you want) were much improved, with the typical Norwegian spread of cured meats, cheeses, 2 kinds of smoked laks, breads, Wasa crackers, and great local jams, and soft or hard boiled eggs. If you have to be in Vardo, this is the place to be...and eat.

Et rimelig slitt hoteĺ som bærer preg av behov for oppgradeinger. Badet var fint og relativt nytt. Ok frokost, men selvfølgelig ikke enkelt å tilby stort utvalg og variasjon med så få gjester.

Innsjekk og utsjekk helt upåklagelig. Men på rommet var der ikke stol til skrivepult og måtte skaffes. Badet hadde en ikke helt god lukt så døren der måtte stå åpen. Service i baren var det bare så som så med da man måtte "plinge" på en klokke for å få betejning og det var ikke så veldig enkelt da betjeningen hadde tydeligvis andre gjøremål og ikke hørte klokken. Overall greit men ikke et smilefjes denne gangen.

Stayed a single night while visiting the Varanger peninsula - very good location. The hotel is the best location in town to get a dinner - but you might want to let them know as soon as you arrive. If they get a larger party (as was the case when we were there) you might have to wait a while.
