Everything was good except you cannot plan to do your own laundry because the place is being renovated

Helpful and welcoming staff, comfy bed, clean room, and tasty breakfast with lots of choice.

Overall a good option if you are visiting Edinburgh as a tourist. The area is nice and as it is right by the university, and close to many old city attractions. Do not pay a higher rate for the included breakfast - it’s pretty basic, and the utensils had a bad odor, probably from their dish washer or the mixing of food with utensils during their washing. One of our family members skipped the breakfast for the 3 days we stayed there due to this. Also, found the staff inflexible when I requested a late checkout by 1 hour, which was odd. But for an expensive tourist destination like Edinburgh, this bite is still a good option for Ben with all these challenges.

Great location, very helpful and friendly staff

As the bathroom door is set back the light disturbs the person in the bed nearest the bathroom (brightness woke me up). Television was difficult to watch from both bed & settee. Was very disappointed with room for the cost. Although breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn. The suites(we had 2) were very spacious and comfortable. I was a bit surprised that the beds couldn’t be separated into twins, as there were clearly 2 single mattresses, topped by a queen mattress. Not every guest at the hotel is a couple, as in our case, a brother and sister( one slept on the sofa bed, which wasn’t as comfortable as the bed. The breakfast was very good, lots of hot and cold choices, great coffee. The breakfast area in the hotel is quite small and breakfast time tended to be chaotic, an issue which I’m sure other guests have commented on.The staff were so friendly and helpful. The location for us was great as it was close to the university, and easy walking distance to the many attractions of beautiful Edinburgh. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends and family👍👍😀

Well located, great breakfast, comfortable room, and the staff were very friendly.

Nice room and comfy bed. Free breakfast buffet was good quality with plenty of choices, but like a cattle drive. Rude people pushing in front of you and little kids running around unattended touching the food, cutlery, etc. We felt it was a bit unsanitary. It’s amazing how parents have no control over their spawn.

Spent a week there. It is a great “home away from home”! Excellent staff - friendly and helpful. Included buffet breakfast was awesome! And nice to have a free laundry for extended stays.

Great location with lots of eating options close by. Short walk to old town and university of Edinburgh. Super friendly staff and clean, quiet rooms.

Although location was a plus point, they have a cleaning self service (tumble dryer and washing machine) which is helpful, the hotel staff manners are non-existent, and in some instances, became very aggressive and inappropriate. I would avoid if you have options.

Far from the Marriott standard. The hotel is very outdated, the hallways and staircases were not clean. The scramble for a table and food in the morning due to lack of tables and layout of the food was nothing short of uncivilised. The only real upside of this hotel is the staff who were all very friendly and helpful.

Avoid! The doors between rooms (which most rooms have) are not soundproofed so you can hear everything going on next door as if they were in your room (ordinary conversations, kids screaming, ‘intimate moments’ etc). I booked for 3 nights but had to leave after 1. Awful!

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. At first glance, the room appeared clean and well-maintained. However, while resting on the bed, I pulled back the blanket and was horrified to find something resembling a bandage or small pad with what looked like blood stuck to the edge of the blanket. It was absolutely revolting and completely ruined my stay. The issues didn’t end there. The shower had mold on the sealant and a clump of hair in the middle of the shower floor. On top of that, someone had left rubbish in the ice machine dispenser, and the air filter in the ice dispenser was completely clogged with dust. Adding to the discomfort, there was a strong, lingering chemical stench on the second floor. While the front desk staff promptly moved us to a new room, which was problem-free, I couldn’t relax or sleep easily, as the image of the bandage kept coming back to me. The lobby itself didn’t help matters either—it felt more like a hospital than a supposedly 4-star hotel. Overall, this experience left a lot to be desired and fell far below the standards I expected.

Great property, great staff. Check-in check-out in matter of minutes. Overall perfect for stay.

Very nice. If you are a Marriott member, they let you into your room early. That helped me because I was feeling sick when I arrived.

We arrived at a full hotel and had to take a wheel chair accessible room, the shower was in the open bathroom and everything in the bathroom got soaked when you took a shower.
