Iberostar Waves Playa Gaviotas -All Inclusive

Great place for vacation.

I booked this hotel based on the reviews I read and considering those and that it is supposedly rated 4 stars, I was disappointed... lets start with the bad: 1. Longer than necessary wait to check in 2. Expedia gold member - all they provided was a bottle of wine and I don't drink. 3. No stock in mini bar - everything must be paid and pre-ordered 4.No water in rooms - they have water stations around the hotel, but taste was not great and for safety I prefer sealed bottled water 5. No tea or coffee facilities in room 6. No Ironing facilities in room 7. No room service 8. Terribly uncomfortable beds and one of our beds was broken when we arrived and we had to wait an hour for someone to come and repair it 9. Terrible pillows and again a long wait to get more 10. The spare sofa bed for my 15 year old, almost 6 foot, 80 kg son was inadequate and hard as a rock - if you are 3 ask for an extra bed! The good: 1. Very well kept grounds and good cleaning 2. Good variety of food but only one restaurant besides the Tapas bar so it gets busy - go early when they open! 3. We had a sea view room - even though only on the first floor - stunning views! 4. There is a laundry at the hotel (newly opened) and cleaning products / use and ironing facilities for free - but only one washer / dryer 5. You can not buy any canned drinks from the hotel or shop in the hotel, you need to walk to the Spar, around 15/20 min walk away, so not bad, or 5 min taxi into Jandia (around 6 or 7 Euro - book at rec)

Lovely staff, would like more info on ingredients in food

We stayed in Jan 2025 with the StarPrestige package. The room was just an average room. The ocean biew was nice, but the sun was very intense on the balcony for the first half of the day so it was hard to enjoy for too long. This resort has just one restaurant- the buffet. There is a limited menu of food at the bowling bar, but we found the food options very limited. At the Iberostar where we stay in Mexico, there are 5 restaurants to choose from, so having just the buffet for dinner was pretty disappointing. I’m confused about the reviews that rave about the food here. It’s lackluster at best. The place is clean - housekeeping did a great job and includes turndown service, which was nice. The StarPrestige pool area was quiet - almost too quiet. We didn’t hang out there much as we found it a bit boring. So if you’re into that, you’ll find it perfect. We used the bowling alley a couple of times. The bowling bar is an adorable little gem to bust the boredom of the resort as a whole with air hockey and billiards - even though the games cost money to play even with the Prestige package. We found it odd that there is only one bathroom in the entire resort? If there was more than 1, we couldn’t find it. If we had to go, we walked all the way to our room. Even the StarPrestige private lounge didn’t have toilets. Everyone was friendly enough, but when compared to other Iberostars we’ve stayed at, we were disappointed as a whole.

Amazingly friendly staff, beautiful hotel. Can only recommend it.

There is a lot to say not enough space. DO NOT RECOMMEND, HORRIBLE PLACE. DO NOT STAY.

Pools and beach was good / nice beach walks. Good Food and very clean. Room Large but slightly dated / great view from balcony. Drinks at bar were machine made and not very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, the food was excellent with lots of variety, the animation team and choice of activity was superb.

Excellent location close to the beach. Buffet meals varied and good quality.

behind. The room was a partial sea view which was lovely and not just a glimpse either like so many partial sea view rooms from experience. The rooms were very clean as was the pool area and eating areas. A good choice of food with a few themed nights too. Staff were all very friendly especially the reception staff who were very helpful on check in and out. Entertainment crew worked very hard day and night and the shows were a very good standard. I would recommend the Playa for families with older children over the Park which tended to be mainly younger children. We travelled with 2 mums and 3 boys ages 14 & 16. Well done to all.

first off describing this place with words doesnt do the place any justice. the staff are incredibly professional in what they do, always smiling and helpful in every regards by far the best group of staff in a hotel that ive encountered. the hotel is absolutely top notch with exceptional amenities and wonderful shows at night. the hotel is fabulous with incredible beach views and terrific food services provided at breakfast lunch and dinner times. im only just back from this place and have it booked again it was that good, you will not be disappointed.

Every aspect of this break exceeded our expectations, the Star Prestige lounge was an great touch as we had access to good quality coffee at any time night or day. The hotel, ground and sunbathing areas were very well maintained and the staff could ne be more helpful! I only have one negative comment that while the food was very good the labeling of what was vegetarian was very poor and often the labels either had the incorrect ingredients listed or did not relate to the items they were marking.

Staff were very friendly. Level of cleanliness was exceptional. Entertainment team were good, lots of energy. Food was of a very good standard, a little bit repetitive. Superb location on an incredible beach.

Really dissapointing experience. Great location, very friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms but the food was awful. Really terrible food. We went all inclusive and it was such a mistake because we really struggled with the food. It all had to do witht the quality of the ingredients, you can tell they are cutting corners with the food. They desperately need a good chef and to invest more in sourcing better quality ingredients. Also, there is no room service or any other payed alternative onsite so you are stuck with the cheap buffet. That basically ruined the whole experience for us. Also the lifts are very outdated and small and some of the hotel infrastructure really needs a makeover. The large pools were really cold so we could not use them. The towels could only be exchanged until 1:30 p.m. which made no sense whatsoever. A special recognition to Olga, the lady that works at the restaurants, she was very friendly and welcoming. Entretainment for children was great, and my daughter really liked Starky.

Great staff, loads of food and drink included and perfect location for the beach, but the quality of the food was not very good and the beds were poor. You might want to brush up on your German so you can chat to most of the other guests. Oh, and the sunrise from the "partial sea view" room was terrific. Most nights were themed in the restaurant so lots of different things but all very similar - like a dozen or so different fish on the fish night, but little else. The labelling was poor too, so beware if you have any allergies or are vegetarian as some dishes labels as vegetables only contained fish or meat. Also check the freshly cooked food on the griddle, it wasn't always cooked properly - again especially the fish. But if you are careful, you can find plenty of tasty food as there is so much choice. The king size bed was two singles pushed together, which was to be expected as that is the norm in many Spanish hotels. What we didn't expect was that they are on wheels which do not lock, which I first noticed when sitting up in bed to read and a big gap opened up as the bed moved away from the wall. This problem can also make it either hilarious, interesting or annoying at other times - if you know what I mean 8-) Overall the staff were great, the drink flowed and the entertainment was excellent, especially the in-house team. A good few days away.

I will try co be consise. Very clean and taken care of hotel. 4 star hotel that outperforms Tasty and well presented food which makes the big difference. Nice pools and close to the fabulous beach. If I had to pick on something there's only one power outlet in the room and it's far away from the bed so extension block and long charging cables are a must!
