Colombo City Hotel

Great location !

Well located. 24-hour reception.

The bathroom smelt like something had died inside. We found maggots on the floor. MAGGOTS. The sheets were dirty and so was the towel.

My room was mosquito infested and the toilet smelled terrible. After an administrative mix-up I was called out of bed at 23.45pm to show my passport as they had no record of me checking in despite me explaining that I had a separate reservation for my second night.

Great stuff, good price in great laction.

I always in this hotel booked room with terrace (city view) But this time give me room with window (nothing to see) view But this the best hotel in this price in this area.

Early Check-in, but they have problem with the Wifi

It is in a great location, but needs some TLC, it could be fantastic but it's not.

Arrived late into Colombo, stay one night and left early next morning on the train. Hotel was average.

Great location, good views and delicious food

The hotel is ok to stay for a night, but don’t expect to much in terms of comfort.

Very average, but I guess you get what you pay for. Beds not comfortable, air con is good, very loud location from outside activity, staff conned is on cab to airport to call a cab. Rather than just order a cab insisted we pay the hotel 4500 rupee. Going rate is about 2700. Cab driver asked us what we paid the hotel then got ticked off that he was only getting 2700 of the 4500. Tried to take us on the old non toll slow road rather than the new highway. I said no way dude I paid a premium onto the highway you go! Hotel staff ripp you off

Arrived in the afternoon first impressions were poor had to haul our bags up the stairs. The lobby was tatty and dirty and the staff were indifferent. No welcome no information given as to breakfast and wi fi details. In short we checked out 30 minutes later and went to the Renuka City Hotel. Staff didn't seem suprised we were leaving.

Great hotel for the area, the hotel is right next to The Old Dutch Hospital which is the best area in Colombo for bars and restaurants. The hotel is pretty decent and clean with a great roof bar, but the only downside is that it's all a bit dated and in need of a refurb. But we would definitely choose this hotel again

We picked this, despite the mixed reviews as we wanted to be certain of a window and to be close to the station and to have a restaurant on site. We were not made to feel welcome on arrival, the man on reception barely addressed us. The room was ok and we were front facing with balcony doors. The porter was friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a reasonable menu but little choice for vegetarians. The vegetable noodle dish had just a few shreds of veg in it. Breakfast was awful. One of us ate nothing at all, the other, just a little potato and tomato. The issue was around hygiene. Except for the “ hot “ dishes which were barely warm nothing else was covered. The bread was spread out, the dish of jam attracted flies, no where near an acceptable standard. WiFi non-existent. We would not stay here again.
