Canal Loft Hotel

The loft was a perfect inexpensive getaway for a concert nearby. The room was small and didn’t offer any fridge, microwave, or shampoo. It was a bargain find, so it met the need for the short trip.

Very nice staff, small room but was perfect for myself and my partner. We enjoyed our night in NYC very much, thanks in major part to how kind the staff at the hotel!

It was alright for the price

When we arrived everyone had a variety of problems which was a red flag. The new was dirty with bodily stains and hair. When asked for a change of sheets, they said they would be there right away but it took an hour after going twice to the front desk. When we got new towels they also had blood stains. We asked for 2 towels because there was two of us but instead we got little sheets because there was no more towels. We had to share a towel. It’s not on the fault of the staff but the owner. Not enough staff

My room did not have the hook for the latch key; it appeared like it was removed. I felt unsafe and used some items like the iron board and side table to barricade the door. The door stop alarm I brought had no batteries! Unfortunately it was late at night when I notices and I did not want to go back downstairs to request another room. On second thoughts; I should have. I did mention it to the front desk when I checked out.

Good value for money! Most other places at this price point have shared bathrooms so I would say if you're not finicky this is a good bet. Beds are extremely short, I'm 5'1 and was comfortable but anyone taller may have issues. Staff seems to be dedicated/hardworking but property owners are clearly cheaping out on maintenance, I had a charred, blown out outlet in my room that was capped instead of spending the $5 to fix it.

Affordable no-frills hotel, many food options nearby

At the chek-in I had to pay quite a lot of extra charges that I didnt know about before. The room had no toilet paper, so I had to take it from the reception. There was a lot of noise in the room from a refrigerator and a water system. Overall, everything looks quited aged.

It's close to Chinatown and subway station. In my room, there's one celling light broken, the toilet missing toilet seat and cover, also the toilet leaking water and making noise all night long. There is no towel, no chair , no toothpaste and toothbrush in the room

The property was basically clean, but needs some repairs. There were no hangers in the closet, and we had to request towels for showering. It was the most basic, stripped down version of a hotel room, but the location was ok and we felt safe. The price was also good compared to other hotels nearby.

Carpet & towels of dubious cleanliness. Wonder if room is cleaned between customers. No chair or table in room. Unhelpful front desk. Invoice doesn’t match reservation amount.

I was pretty nervous going into this hotel because there were some pretty awful reviews. My experience was definitely not nearly as bad as some other guests. Pros: you can't beat the price, and its very close to the b d trains. The room had a fridge and microwave. The bed was also comfortable. The room was also clean when we arrived. Cons: room is very dark. One of the lamps was missing a bulb. I told the front desk and it never got replaced. There was only one night stand and the toilet seat was cracked. I stayed four nights and the cleaning crew only did a changeover once. The area is also very loud in the morning. At the end of the day, the room is just to crash in, so it served its purpose. Personally, i would stay there again if i was solo traveling, probably not if i was with my girlfriend.

This is a very basic property. There is wear and tear. But i was pleasantly surprised with how quiet it got at night since it is in Chinatown.

Even though I paid all my taxes and fees through Expedia, the hotel charged me an extra $75usd in taxes upon arrival. Very disappointing.

This is where I got to stay with the love of my life, so for us the Canal will always be a very special place

Upon arrival going into the room there was no toilet seat, had to wait until the next day to have it installed after multiple attempts of having it serviced and had to use bathroom on 3rd floor that was used for storage, the water was running all night, no lighting, no lamps, no towels in the bathroom, no availability to changing rooms, no accommodations given, room keys didn’t always work, no remote for TV, whole building smelled like cigarette smoke, renovations being done on room next-door at all hours, unable to sleep. Front desk had a language barrier, explain situation multiple times and no response from the front desk. And always a new face at reception.

The property was falsely advertised. It was so dirty and disgusting I booked another room at a different hotel and left. The room looked nothing like the photos, the bed was dirty, the carpet was stained and there was a bad odor.

A nice clean room with a large bathroom and nice shower. Recently updated. Quiet and a good value for NYC. Good public transportation access. Several issues - Bathroom had no soap in bathtub even after I asked the desk to please put some soap in the tub. Bathroom had a sizeable number of small black bugs. Modular closet was detached from wall and almost came crashing down on me when I opened the door.
