Motel 6 Winchester, VA

Bed was very comfortable

The positive: The room was very clean. The negative; The room smelled like sewer and mildew. The sewer smell was coming from the drains. The air quality was terrible in the room and the humidity high. I had to unplug the fridge as it was extremely loud. When I checked in around 4 pm I specifically asked for a room that is far from any crazy and loud people. But there were children slamming doors and running around throughout the night. At around 11 pm someone either hit hard or kicked my door. I managed to sleep probably about 1.5 hours when someone again either hit very hard or kicked my door at 3:56 am and again at 4:00 am. At that point I called the front desk. After that there was no noise but I couldn’t sleep anymore after being woken up so rudely. I don’t know what I paid for, I would have probably slept better anywhere including the rest area, in my car.

It’s an older hotel but it was clean and convenient for one night. Bed was not too comfy

Staff is friendly yet professional. I travel with my service dog and they make a big fuss over her with treats and kindness. Nothing better than having animal lovers run a clean, safe and affordable motel.

There are long term residents there if that matters to anyone. Very quiet due to residential area and shopping area with mostly 9-5 business hours.

The bathtub evidently had not been clean because someone soaked prior to mine was still in the shower

I have a smoking room and I was smoking cigarette and pipe in the bathroom because of my dog and there was watching me inside the bathroom and the front desk lady she's very rude and my room it was very nasty

Clean rooms. Friendly and helpful check in. Quiet rooms in the front building. No frills or extras, but the bed was comfy and we got two good nights of sleep!

I have never seen a hotel like this. They were very specific on customer behaviors they felt as acceptable. Signs were posted everywhere. It almost felt they were too controlling. But as a customer, I actually liked it! It's a paradigm shift for me. Would I reserve a room again? Probably. Actually definitely! I just wish I knew these things before I booked.

Smelled really bad and was afraid to touch anything.

Came in later evening. Had originally booked room for 3 nights, but plans changed and only needed 1. Clerk said had to contact Expedia for refund and was totally lacidasical about doing even that. Wouldn't print a receipt or offer any assistance. Quality of the room was acceptable.

I give Motel 6 a lot of credit for changing up to clean minimalist comfortable rooms. Good job.
