Location, location, location! Staff was friendly and attentive. Room was small but perfect as we werent really hanging in the room all day. Close to all Duval has to offer. We'll see you again Southwinds : )

Loved staying here. It may be an older motel, but it was clean, quiet, and offered plentiful breakfast options. The staff was incredibly friendly, and it was close to the high points of Key West. Additionally, it was close to the booth where you could sign up for the trolley or train to take you around Key West to explore the areas well known to KW that may not be within walking distance. We also appreciated that it had a liquor store and bar right next door, featuring live music every night at The Tipsy Rooster. If I ever return to Key West, I would definitely stay here again.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this hotel was truly below acceptable standards. The room was in dire need of upgrades — everything felt old, worn down, and poorly maintained. The floor was filthy when we arrived, and to make matters worse, the tub still had hair in it from a previous guest. That alone was enough to make me question the cleanliness of the entire room.
The AC unit was not properly insulated, and during a thunderstorm, rainwater actually started leaking in through the unit. It was a huge mess and made us feel completely uncomfortable and unsafe.
The pool was also a major letdown. It looked unkempt and murky, clearly not cleaned or properly maintained on a regular basis. We had looked forward to using it, but after seeing the condition, we decided it wasn’t worth the risk.
Overall, I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made. Cleanliness and basic maintenance should be a priority — unfortunately, this hotel failed on both fronts.

Our room was nice. AC and wifi worked well. The area around the motel is nice. Simple, but free breakfast every morning. Only issue was our room never got cleaned during our 5 day stay and staff shut us down when we asked about it.

Very nice. Very surprised how nice the room was. At one end of duval and everything happens on the other end. Pool decks very hot!!! Breakfast accommodating. Nice staff. Comfy beds.

Perfect little motel for our family. We visited to ice cream shop and the bar attached to the motel. Both pools were fine and great for what we needed them to be. Walking distance to the beach and local dining, yet far (.5 miles) from the liveliness of Duval street. Would stay here again. Wish they offered dairy free milk and maybe some other foods for breakfast. We grabbed juice and went to moondog bakery.

The room was very spacious, with a bar area, fridge, sink and microwave. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom area was very spacious. The bathroom itself needed a fan to suck up the hot air. One of the thinks that was a bummer is that the AC unit is to small for the size room as it always felt really warm even after putting it to 62. Key West in July is hot so you want a good AC. The location was great. Breakfast was pretty good with cereal, muffins, Danish, 2 peeled refrigerated boiled eggs, bananas, juices and coffee.

The staff was amazing. The room was clean and quiet. Our flight was cancelled so we needed a room quickly. The staff gave us a room that was ready hours before check-in. Great service, great location.

The description given is definitely not what we encountered. The room was small, old and totally unimpressive. I don’t want to say it’s dirty but it’s old and run down. The breakfast is all pre packed muffins and cereal. Coffee was ok. Pool is super tiny. The bar at the front of the hotel was ok. And it’s a good mile walk to the popular part of Duvall St. Hemingway house about half a mile walk. Southernmost point close by, but one visit is enough. For the price look for something better and closer to the beach. There are no dressers in the room, the hairdryer didn’t work, and the water pressure in the shower was not great and the curtain is literally held up by a expandable shower rod that fell when I tried to put the towel over it. And if you are bigger than a size 6 good luck sitting on the toilet. Teeny tiny bathroom. This was a king bed room.

I would inquire about the bathroom size before booking or you might have issues. Otherwise, the location and amenities were nice including a bar with live entertainment and an ice cream truck.
