Clean, comfortable bed, good spa and sauna

I checked in and the gentleman checking me in took 2 phone calls during the process, I then asked if my room included breakfast as he made an outgoing call. My question wasn’t answered and I was just handed my room key. I then asked again if I had breakfast and also in addition to this what my room number was and also in which direction I should go to get in to the room. After playing a round of golf I went back to my room and the key didn’t work, once I got to reception I found out that they shad changed my lock after I checked in and I should have been told. When we went to go for dinner, I then found that the bar / restaurant menu was closed and it was a buffet service only due to coach trips that they had and it would be £35! Next day, room key did not work, same man on the desk and he once again took 2 phone calls as he was dealing with this issue to just hand a new card over. I’m not one to complain but I was furious and mentioned it on checkout only to find out that the man who checked me in is a manager. Absolutely shocking and I have emailed separately.

This hotel could be amazing, the surrounding area and location is great, however, the hotel is tired, very outdated, extra charge applies per person (inc children) to use an equally tired and outdated swimming pool / sauna / steam rooms. The entertainment / facilities are terrible, a pool table a dart board anything would be nice, comfy seating in the bar instead of hostile staff and critical lighting. Could be a real gem but sadly woeful and very much lacking. There are EV (Tesla) chargers, only one was working but only on our second night stay, no one seemed to have a clue who within the hotel looked after this facility, front of house were pretty much useless on the topic, the golf shop were far more helpful but honestly, being told there was no such thing as a facilities team or some such to assist was just beyond the joke. The room itself, again outdated, tired, worn, dusty, mucky, let’s say being greeted with white stains on the headboard was not too great. I can’t stress enough how this place with a solid refurb and good leadership could be great.

Was not looking forward to this hotel having looked at reviews but it was a really good 2 night stay room was clean staff were nice lovely restaurant bar area nice and relaxed with the kids , the only thing is charge for pool with 5 of us for 2 nights extra 50 which is not ok if they changed that it would make people alot happier its a strange charge ?? But the pool was warm and very clean .

Overall we enjoyed it, breakfast was good, space in room was good, the gold was fun, location perfect. But there were some odd things, like paying for swimming, no one cleaning your room unless you stay 5 nights or more. With the cost you are paying you expect these to be included, particularly with children. The hotel was tradition and not modern which was ok but generally needs a refurb and some more modern aspects added. Would i stay there again, probably not but don’t regret the stay for sure.

No shower curtain to use the shower which was positioned over the bath. Just the hooks remained

After 4 weeks and 4 other rooms this stay / room was my favourite so far. Top floor. Large room polite staff especially the men.

Outdated decor, room were not properly cleaned. Spider web in lamps next to bed and on the ceiling. Old carpet poor shower. Stayed three nights no cleaner showed up to tidy up room or clean bathroom. Gym is outdated and half of the showers in gym area are not fully functioning.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Whilst it is beyond your control, we experienced noise from what appeared to be an upstairs room, the occupants stamping around.

Had a lovely stay here. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient. Great value for the price—would definitely stay again!

The hotel grounds are really nice And great location. First time I stayed I really liked my room On my return trip my room had no window ( which I knew apon booking) but the bathroom smelt damp and inviting. The staff especially the men are very welcoming polite and professional

Modernised hotel, pleasant staff, nice surroundings just spolit by the distance to the room and what seemed like a maze to find our way round.

The place looks nice from the outside but the rooms were very dated and carpets in the rooms are just a NO for me very unhygienic and smelt bad, beds and pillows were uncomfortable also smelt. The pool and jacuzzi were right next to each other and kids wanted to go in the jacuzzi and staff had to keep coming out to tell the kids they were not allowed in which ruined our experience as our children then became unsettled as they preferred the jacuzzi as it was warm and the main pool was freezing. Overall not worth the money
