New place have some excellent staff and some not so excellent. Met an older (maybe maintenance man) who gave us a quick summary of the Hotel and its history he is a true asset to the company as his enthusiasm can not be bought. There was a woman who works in the kitchen however she has the voice of an angel and made our meal in the restaurant even better she should be getting more work. I would say overall even if the service was not always up to a level they never made you feel like anything was too much and always polite so should be commended all the same.

Rooms although nice are on the ‘small size’ nowhere to put ‘stuff’. If you are not fully fit then the upstairs rooms are not for you as it can be difficult to get up there. No Lifts!!! Breakfast/Evening meal is a very short distance away from your room and not under cover so could be a bit uncomfortable during inclement weather. But you can hire an umbrella but these are in reception again away from you room. Hmm’

Wasn’t a great stay at all. Mentioned to the hotel to expect arrival around 10pm. Arrived at the hotel and the junior member of staff was very pleasant and friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the hotel was not organised at all - totally inadequate support was in place for the junior member of staff. The junior staff were not at fault with any of this. My expectations of hotel stays is not high basic clean bedding and bathroom and a comfortable night sleep which isn’t rocket science. The issues that had raised: Room 83 - No lock on the door at all not great and equally when I arrived it was left open so back to reception. Was given room 24 that hadn’t been serviced from the previous guest (dirty bedding and towels) or bungled up so obviously used. Back to reception - was then given the keys for room 83 again walked in pile of dirty towels and dirty bedding not been serviced at all again from previous guests. Back to reception again I mentioned I didn’t want to be having to go in anymore rooms that haven’t been cleaned. Was eventually upgraded to room 90 which was clean but the whole fiasco went on until the early hours of the morning. Spoke to reception on departure and the mangeress who blamed everything on the junior staff instead of taking ownership.. Complete with the reception staff rolling their eyes at me..

We stayed in a chalet type room, which was quite dark. Comfortable bed, good bathroom except the bath was very small, and the shower was so restrictive, the curtain went across the bath and left very little room to stand. Expected much better for the price and the standard of the hotel.

Needed somewhere to stay for a family funeral. Price good . Room quite small and most of the rooms where in blocks outside so got wet walking to main house to have our meals and visit the bar . Drinks at the bar very expensive!!! Pints were £7.35 . Gin and tonic was over £10 .. first night we had a sandwich which was £8.50 … price ok but quality was very poor . Cheapest thinnest white supermarket bread … vegetable crisps nice .. our friends had a pizza much better value and also looked very good . £14.50 Breakfast was the usual buffet style help yourself . First day the food wasn’t very warm but much hotter the second day . The painting around the hotel were amazing . There was also a conference in the hotel while we were there so understanding was very noisy in the bar area. Also the ladies bathroom facilities were up two flights of stairs . Lovely paintings on the way … disabled toilet downstairs though . Overall ok but not sure if we would stay again . Beautiful gardens

Had an overnight stay before travelling home from a family funeral. Great place, great staff will probably stay again sometime in the future and use some of their leisure facilities.

We returned after 10 years to celebrate the year of our 10 year wedding anniversary. The room was lovely but old faux rose petals were found on the floor/under the bed the day after valentines which was a bit off-putting. We also booked for the 3 course valentines meal, starter and main were okay but for £130 the dessert was inedible and no-one asked how it was. The sticky toffee pudding was rock hard and so dry, like it had been microwaved for too long. Such a shame, it was lovely to bring back the nostalgia but the cleaning and caterting needs a review considering the cost.
