Arrived at thevagreed time to find the doors locked. Tried to ring but nobody picked up. Eventually someone heard me knocking and opened the door. Check in was straightforward after that. Room was small but had all you needed. Wifi was good. Desk space was small but ok. Dinner was good. Had a good nights sleep. Breakfast included and looking at the cooked option it looked very nice. Sadly i just had some cereal and juice (my choice). Paid on check out. Parking was free. Overall nice place with friendly staff.

We loved our short break at the dragon hotel. I chose a very quirky room and loved the history of the hotel. A very good breakfast with gorgeous croissants and a full Welsh breakfast. All the staff were very attentive and kind. I would stay again if we were in the vicinity.

Room was okay, the shower not good, due to the sloping ceiling it could not be fixed up high, we had to kneel in the bath and hold the shower head! No pies the first night in the pub, second night my wife wanted fish & chips, no cod! So she went to the chip shop over the road and saved £7. Very good breakfast! All staff very good!

Comfortable stay in lovely old hotel in Montgomery which is a very beautiful little town worth deviating off a route for. Bar a nice place to spend the evening. Has a posher Bistro but not open every night and bar was a friendly place for supper, with good range of beer.

Lots of character but also LOTS of steps inside, no lift. Not suitable for anybody with limited mobility- we were on the third floor ( top) with a 90 year old pensioner in tow who luckily had a lower floor . Lovely market square location but if you like a quiet space dont have a room overlooking the square, there is a clock tower right outside that chimes from 7am till midnight... disturbed sleep. Delivery lorries restocking the kitchen/bar arrived early at the front door and banged noisily, no good for sleeping past 7am. The rooms are lovely but our Room 7 had a sloping roof section over the bed that resulted in a few head bangs when getting up at night. The bedroom crockery had coffee stains in the cups. The shower had been upgraded but needed cleaning/painting as the ceiling was mouldy and the edge of the shower tray needed a good clean. The mattress was like sleeping on a trampoline, if your partner turns over, you bounce two foot in the air! Plus points go to the staff in the bar and restaurant, very friendly and efficient, price of food and beer is good and quality of food/ portion sizes was excellant but beware of the surcharge added unknowingly to your restaurant bill. I don't mind tipping ( and we did) but at my choice not theirs.

A very friendly and relaxed property to stay in. The food was fab. The place is quirky as it is so old. Situated perfectly between Leeds and Pembrokeshie coast to break our journey. Thanks for a lively stay.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely historic building with some original features. We chose a simple double room. We will be returning, definitely booking a larger room next time. Excellent cooked Welsh breakfast.

Nice hotel in a great location near to the caste ruins in Montgomery. My room was large, could benefit from an update but comfortable. The hotel itself has plenty of character. The best aspect though was the food. I had a wonderful evening meal with prawns in white wine to start and lamb with feta salad for main. Both were superb!

Great stay at the Dragon, Montgomery is a real find we stayed as it was 15 minutes to Powis castle but so glad we did. Our room in the attic space was small (think it was last room left due to a wedding group) but we really enjoyed our stay. Very friendly young staff, great meal in evening and breakfast (wife said lentil burger was best she'd ever had). Small old historic town, old coaching inn type hotel , lovely staff we will come back again
