Hotel La Colonna is a lovely hotel with a pool set in gardens but it’s the location that is a problem. It is set on a main through road on the outskirts of Siena. You will have to bus or taxi into the centre. Buses don’t run at night. We did eat at a lovely family run Italian pizza restaurant close by and there are a few other eateries but you are limited. The receptionist Alexandra (?) was so lovely and informative and seemed to work in all areas. There are not many staff here. Overall, however, we did enjoy our stay.

I asked for a room with a bath tub. The plug was useless.

The bus is literally 20 steps away, takes you straight up to piazza Indipendenza. There’s also a quick grocery right there. The pool looked amazing and just as advertised, everything was very clean and nice.

The bus stop (to take you up to the old town of Sienna) was literally two minutes from the hotel. There is information on the bus stop telling you when your bus is due. so you can go and wait in the hotel. (very scary exciting ride up and back to the town. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed. Shower (inside bath) very cleverly designed. Breakfast acceptable very helpful staff. Over all enjoyed our stay at interesting Siena. Pat and Ellert Meyer

Check in and out very friendly. Very out dated hotel but is spotless clean. Breakfast is sweet variety but plenty of it. Pool area is a nice clean area with plenty of seats for guests. Good 15 minute walk to gates of Siena and no footpath on some of the road. Hotel is located on a busy road , we were on the 1st floor so very noisy from 7am onwards. Overall very reasonable price to pay while touring the area.

A great budget stay, ideally situated for exploring Siena .... a little dated but spotlessly clean And fantastic to have a pool to cool off at the end of the day. Check in was brilliant... welcomed by Giordano who gave the most comprehensive check - in I have ever experienced... lots of useful local information alongside some humour This is not for someone looking for peace and tranquility, for us it was ideal to stop off for a couple of nights after spending a week in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and with temperatures hitting 40 degrees plus, the pool was a real bonus as was the secure parking. A little supermarket almost next door is handy as is the delicious pizzeria on the corner

The hotel is situated close to the city! There is a bus if you do not wish to walk or drive. The staff is excellent, and hotel is very clean. There is pool on the top to chill in the very hot August days. The breakfast is real good experience including Italian salary, and locks pastries!Only one comment: the shower in the bathroom is not perfect!

It was an excellent experience! Manager and staff super nice! excellent stay for those who wants to travel in Tuscany! if you don't have plans to rent a car the bus line is with a walking distance there are ok restaurants close by! Service good, breakfast good! However it gets old to eat the same thing every day, specially If you state more than two days. It has a nice swimming pool and parking space! For the price is an excellent place!

We booked this hotel a few days before we came to Siena as we decided to stay instead of driving back to Pisa the same day. We're really glad we did. It's a lovely hotel. Ideally situated at the bottom of the hill with a bus stop to go up the hill to the old town a few metres away. We had a couple of chilled hours relaxing by the pool in the afternoon when we arrived before tackling the old town in the evening. Our room was at the front, and in hindsight we should have booked a garden view, but with the windows closed and the air conditioning on, it wasn't too noisy, a car alarm went off a couple of times during the night, but I would assume that all rooms heard that.

Although rather unprepossessing from outside, this proved to be a good choice for our Siena stop. The pool and solarium are a bonus and the parking is secure. Part of the Portuguese Pestana group which is a good thing; in our experience they are very professionally run and reasonably priced. I imagine that rooms facing the busy road would be very noisy.
