There were just a few English speaking employees, Iwata was one of them and then the facility was a little dated but they tried hard to keep it up to par; our first room was clean except that the bathroom had a rotten wooden panel that I discovered was the cause of the smell, so after spending time with 3 people for a few hours I had the room changed to a newly refurbished and clean one...maybe because of the whole situation I got some allergies going, not pleasant. The outside area is kept clean but there were some visible area (from the windows) that looked in shambles considering that the lake & mountain views were nice, so I pointed that to the manager and staff. Dining is limited and there is JoJo restaurant near by/across the street that hit the spot. The Onsen area was good and my wife used it many times, so communication had his changes and beware of the older rooms that might have some issues that should be addressed asap with pictures with the staff.

I booked this hotel mainly for its airport shuttle. Even though there’s only one to the airport in the morning, they went above and beyond to help and accommodate me. The room was massive and provided absolutely lovely views. I do have tattoos so they had to be covered when entering the bath. The building is old and smells of moisture, which I think comes with running an onsen. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much.

The hotel has seen better days, but the rooms are roomy and the staff is quiet friendly. Outside there isn't much, but there is a supermarket! 15 minutes away you'll find the best beach in Honshu island though. Breakfast is nice of you like Japanese style breakfast, not so much western style food...only scrambled eggs and rolls

The staff showed hospitality all the way, a front desk lady took us to our room that had hot water ready for our tea and snack, and showed us the room, very kind and professional. The hotel provides traditional Japanese breakfast buffet - it is just so wonderful. We enjoyed our stay.

Kasuikyo is located just in front of a beautiful lake. Its staff (from the shuttle bus driver to the reception and restaurant serving staff) are friendly and helpful. They even arranged 2 very attentive chinese-speaking staff (Ms Tan and Ms Ho) to attend to us (knowing that we are unable to speak Japanese) during check-in and brought us around to view the hotel amenities. Our room (a suite with an open-air tub) overlooking the lake was the most comfortable and romantic experience. We were also served with different sets of delicious kaiseki meals during our 3-night stay. Ms Tan even recommended some nearby places of interest such as a day trip to Kanazawa or a 1-day loop-bus ride around Kaga. We felt pampered like royalty during our stay and will surely return to this hotel if we were to visit Kaga Onsen again.

Totally out of my expectation! Check-in could speak Taiwanese Mandarin. Got upgraded, rooms were spacious & facing to the lake - stunning & peaceful view. Their tatami was very comfortable. Onsen is also facing to the lake as not many people stayed there, almost was a private onsen. The hotel conists of 1 traditional & 1 modern block. Buffet breakfast in the big banquet hall, with a lot of choices & variety. Should’ve stayed longer to try out everything

Wonderful Onsen. I will never forget sitting in wooden Onsen outside under the stars and looking over the lake. This is a beautiful hotel. Luxurious, very friendly staff and we had an unexpected banquet in the evening meal. An unforgettable experience. In the morning we walked to the beach - a truly memorable stay.

We stayed four nights in hotel, before arrival I doubt if stay too long... but after staying for four days, I would like to come again. The staff were very professional and very nice, the hotel provided staff to speak my language. The room, the food and the hot spa were excellent, clean and nice set up. We stayed in a lake view room, day and night with a million dollar view, relax and relax. The environment of the restaurant was a five-star services. They served our meals in a private room, nice and clean. The designs of foods were a piece of fine arts. After dinner, the hotel provided special program every night.... we enjoyed the classical singing, piano more.

Room: No air conditioning. Super hot. We have to ask for one or two fans to keep the circulation going. You can't open windows as the mesh screen were all broken with lots of bugs outside! Poor maintenance of room, facilities & public hot spring area inside & outside. We were already stayed at the renovated floor. This is applicable for both western & Japanese style rooms. There were 6 of us and we had three rooms. I think the only nicer area are the "MOST" expensive rooms(top floor) with private hot tubs. The rest of hotel are old, smelly & dark. Many parts of hotel showed signs of leaked before. So not expected of this quality with this kind of price level. I stayed in other Onsen resort with similar pricing and they were much better maintained. Facilities: There are several entertainment rooms, like pool table, karaoke, dancing...etc. All have to be pre-booked and there's a fee. The pricing is high too! The dining & breakfast area are ok. Our stay included dinner & breakfast. The dinner is good quality & taste good. But, the breakfast is so basic with low quality food. The breakfast period is so short, only 7:00am to 9:00am. It's a bit stressful to hurry for breakfast when you are relaxing at a Hot spring resort. Staff Service quality: The dinner & housekeeping staff are nice. But, I sent an email in advance for meal & shuttle pick up. They never replied until I sent it twice & get someone who speaks Japanese to call for me. Speaks poor English too. Overall disappointing

It was a very relaxing stay. The area is absolutely gorgeous. The staff, though some may have tiny bit of language barrier, has always gone above and beyond to make sure our stay was a pleasant one.

Hotel was nice and close to the Kagaonsen train station and Canbus tour station. Staff was very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The hotel and rooms could use some renovating. The breakfast buffet was great.

Overall we had a WONDERFUL stay. The view from our lakeside room was expansive and very serene. The room itself, while lacking in sleek updates and showing quite a bit of wear was nonetheless luxurious in its size and view alone. And for our first time in Japan this was our first traditional Japanese rooms replete with Tatami mats and lower furniture which served us beautifully. The onsen itself was fantastic-large (sexes separated), very clean bathing and dressing areas with same expansive lake view from a whole wall of windows. Staff was very accommodating in spite of minimal English. We ended up having one of the best Italian (!) meals of our life upon a recommendation by the front desk staff. Overall a terrific stay if you're expecting a more "national" as opposed to "international" experience - for which we were extremely grateful.
