Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The pool was a refreshing surprise. Why go to overcrowded cinque terre when you could book this gem

Normally I don’t waste my time for reviews but this time I have to write few words. This was the worst hotel we slept in Italy in 18 days of our trip. Cons: 1. Noisy, noisy, noisy. Rooms are not soundproofed enough. You can hear everything and everyone in the corridor like there is no door. Train, kids behind the wall etc. whole day and night. 2. Rooms expectation vs reality. I have chosen the “superior” room with water view and terrace. I have been given tiny balcony and a bit of water view from small glass door. I wish I could add photos in here so it’s clear. There are couple of rooms that actually match the photos but the rest of them are not. They should add another type of room as an option to not to mislead clients. 3. They advertise 1’ walk to the beach. In fact it is 8-9’ on the steep steps. Down the hill and up the hill on the way back. If you have an knee injury like I do, forget about 1’ pleasant walk to the beach. 4. Couldn’t use the kitchenette in the room as it was tided with a string, and note to not to use it. 5. Toilet and bidet is fixed too high - dining chair height. If you are shorty or have a kid, you will have the weirdest experience in your life. 6. Entire place is a one big maze. Hard to get to the pool - it’s not marked at all. We were walking around for 15’ trying to get there. 7. Pillows are very flat. There was no fluff in it at all. Pros: 1. Very good breakfast, a lot of options. And nice stuff at the diner.

Beautiful views. Walk to beach was about 500 meters but you need to like walking down and up the hill. Lots of shopping and restaurants after walking down hill to beach. Beautiful large pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym. Excellent breakfast included. This is a hidden gem and not too expensive. Room had microwave oven, refrigerator, and a kitchen if you have a B&B reservation.

The property staff is amazing. Friendly, welcoming, polite. Breakfast was better than in many other similar hotels priced at the same price point. However, room 130 didn't have A/C working, despite advertising as room having A/C. This is commonplace in Italy, yet annoying missadvertising.

Everything was exceptional, except the fact it is at the top of the hill. Lots and lots of steps. Not recommended for those with mobility issues.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with delicious cakes and good coffee. The hotel was quite near the station and not too far from the town, but up a hill. The room was pleasant, with a balcony and good air-conditioning.

It's a short, charming walk from the stazione tothe hotel (uphill) and from the hotel to the town centre (downhill). Our room was small but well-appointed with a terrace verandah looking out over the Ligurian Sea. Breakfast was fine.

We just returned from spending 10 days in Moneglia, as our base for exploring the CInque Terre and other parts of the Italian Riviera. we stayed at the Hotel Mondial. Super experience. We had a residence with a kitchenette and large balcony with a mountain view. The hotel was perfect. Staff was amazing. extremely friendly and helpful with all aspects of our trip, weather it was train schedules, or suggestions on restaurants. Can't say enough good things about the staff. Hotel is a bit dated, but very clean and kept up nicely. The town of Moneglia has special meaning to us since it is where my wife's grandfather was born, and turns out her family are among the four or five families that are prominent in the area. Moneglia is beautiful and clean. Close enough to the Cinque Terre, but not as crowed with tons of tourist as some of the other towns in the area, although far more tourist in the area than we had imagined for this time of year. We were able to take several other side trips including Pisa, as well as Rapallo and Portofino area without losing an entire day getting there. Would highly recommend both the Hotel Mondial as well as Moneglia to anyone wanting to see this part of Italy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mondail and in Moneglia. The room was clean and well kept, and the extra money for the ocean view was worth every penny (although there is also a very nice patio that looks over the ocean as well). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, which is essentially identical in every hotel in Italy, was better than most others as they happily prepared a couple of fresh eggs and had fresh homemade chocolate cake (not our normal breakfast, but not to be missed!). there was a very large pool and modern hot tub/jacuzzi that we didn't get a chance to use. It's about a 10 minute walk to the beach, but there aren't very many hotels that have direct beach access, so this was not a big deal. Moneglia is a great place to enjoy Cinque Terre. It is far less touristy than the other towns we visited, or maybe catered more towards European families than global tourists. The town is far less busy, but the beach is still nice. There were relatively few Americans in the town, which was a plus - Montorossa, which was still nice, may be trying to turn itself into some sort of hybrid of Italy and Panama City, FL. It's about $15 round trip per person on the train to the rest of Cinque Terre, so not a big deal to stay here if you want to see the other towns. Just don't expect to hear a lot of English except in some of the nicer restaurants.

We arrived a day late, due to passport expiry restrictions, for our prepaid stay and our hosts could not have been more helpful and kind. Our room was small but very efficient and the bed was so very comfortable with a firm mattress, very workable heat, which was important during our late October stay. It was a charming walk into town and we loved the area and the spectacular view from our balcony. Breakfast choices were wide and many and the communal rooms large and quite comfortable. It is an excellent place to stay.

Everything about our stay was good but the access to the town & beach was not too good with a pushchair or for the elderly but overall our stay was very good.

Nice hotel, well located if you want to visit Cinque Terre. Super large rooms which are a bit uncommon in Italy. The train station is about a 5 minute walk, and from there it's a 20 minute ride into Monterosso, which is the first town in Cinque Terre. The town of Moneglia where the hotel is located is also quaint and beautiful, the city center has excellent restaurants, and is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

We stayed at Mondial for 2 nights as a base for the Cinque Terre in late May.The Hotel is set above Moneglia and can be tricky to find ( sharp exit out of the coastal tunnel then up a steep hill). Other than than is is absolutely perfect. Pay the extra to get a sea view as this gives you a balcony or if lucky like us a full sun terrace. The room was large clean with an excellent shower. Breakfast was very good copious amounts of food hot drinks and juices. The Hotel has good size interior pool with a Jacuzzi which were welcomed after a days hiking across the coast.
