This was one of the most best travel expeirences i ever had. The Kapama Southern lodge is superb . The staff was amazing. the accommodations were perfect. The food options were plentiful. I recommend this property to everyone, and of of course the safari tours were better than expected with informal guides.

Kapama Southern is amazing! I loved everything about it - the Villa was beautiful, the animals roaming free, the food was delicious, but I especially I loved the people who worked there. Titus and Elliot were an amazing Driver/Tracker duo and made sure we got to see some amazing animals, including a leopard eating in a tree. They were always looking out for me and making sure I had everything I needed to have a great stay. And Nkateko always had my favorite tea at breakfast lunch and dinner. I highly recommend this property and upgrading to the Villa with pool. I also suggest you stay about 5 days to enjoy the game drives, but also so you can enjoy some of the experiences like the Elephant encounter, spa and hot air balloon ride.

Excellent stay at Kapama Southern Camp. The entire staff is friendly, helpful, and goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. Game drives are excellent. The food is great. The lodge is small enough to feel intimate and relaxing. 5 star stay for sure.

We had a lovely time at Kapama Southern Camp. Family of 5 was treated in the most respectful way and spoiled rotten. We had the best experience of lives. We saw Leopard up close, elephants came and gate crash our bush braai😂, the staff were just wonderful. Deon the best chef, Matt our very wise guide, Lot our eagle eyed tracker, Thuli our sweet singing waiter, Sheila the best bush braai helper, hands-on Hanneli that was ALWAYS near to help, sorry for not remembering everyone, ALL the staff made sure every little detail was on point and the friendliness and smiles went on for miles and miles. I want to ask Tourists visiting our beautiful country: please treat everyone you meet with respect, I have seen such rude people, it made me cringe. No matter of its a cleaner or a manager, treat with respect and you with treated with even MORE respect!

This experience was unreal. The height of luxury in every sense of the word. We absolutely loved our ranger, Andrew, and Tom, our tracker, who together enabled us to see the big five in 3 game drives. The service was impeccable and we wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed at the suite and were delighted with the accommodations. The game drives were insanely interesting and the guides were top notch! Although it is a closed reserve, it is big enough to get a real sense of being in the wild, and you are almost guaranteed to see the big 5 (minus the leopard if you're not lucky, we were!) The animals almost don't notice you and behave naturally, a truly amazing experience!

Good trip. Excellent food. Rooms a little smaller than other lodges. The lodge is fenced (which you can’t see) but it suits some and not others. Game drives were good but it was easier to see animals in Kruger Park where the terrain was more spacious. A lot of food constantly so you never go hungry! Close to hoedspruit airport so little wasted time in transit.

Only 24 comfortable, handsome rooms each with a ground floor terrace with game animals walking nearby. Very good food, lovely pool, friendly staff. Games drives with knowledgable guides and trackers in 9 seater open top vehicle. You get really close to the animals.

This hotel is just out of this world. It is literally in the middle of the jungle. it is a real 5 start hotel, the drinks' price is great, food is great. Our ranger Francois, our tracker, Obbrey, and our server Innocence were amazing. They have game drives early in the morning and late in the afternoon. We saw all the big 5 but the leopard. It was a great adventure, full of luxury! highly recommended.

The service is excellent and all staff go out of their way to make your stay memorable. The concept of having the same game ranger / tracker to ensure that you see everything that you want is to be commended. This is an exceptional game experience and hesitate to even classify it as a hotel

Undeniably, Kapama Southern Camp offers beautiful, well thought-out accommodation and amenities. Food is varied and plentiful, but do not expect a top quality meal. Despite pleasant surroundings, the quality of dinner meals was disappointing (3 out of 4 dinner meals), especially the main entry: Fish (overcooked), grilled red meat (tasty, but too much fat and grizzle) and local dishes (satisfactory). Soups, although tasty, were typically way too salty. Service staff was typically friendly, efficient and accommodating. Waiting staff assigned to our table did their best to provide complementary service (buffet self-service). However, there was a definite feeling that they were expecting tips for such service. Being our first, the safari was a very good introduction to various types of birds and game, including 4 of the big 5. The elusive leopard is unlikely to be sighted in this private, fenced-in reserve as the lion population is relatively abundant and territorial. The rangers and trackers are professional and did their best to give us good sighting experiences. However, to minimize human "traffic" during each game drive, the reserve is divided in quadrants that are assigned to groups of rangers, using a rotation schedule. Hence, given particular habitats in each quadrant, rangers and their trackers know which type of animals should and should not be seen on a given drive. Unfortunately, trackers are under employed. For authentic safari experience, go elsewhere.

From the moment you get there, the staff are there to take care of any and all your needs. The staff from cook to manager, are genuinely friendly, hospitable and go above and beyond to make your stay the best you can imagine. The rangers are all exceptionally informed and you never feel as if you are in any danger because of their thorough walk through of what the rules of the bush are for you to be safe. Our ranger and tracker, Francois and Joseph, made our safari trip the most exciting time and we have already decided we are going back next year and will be staying at Kapama Souther Camp. The staff are like old friends as they are so down to earth and easy going. The site is beautifully situated and the rooms are just WOW! from your personal room to the library/tv room, dining facility and cocktail lounge. All open air with beautiful thatched roofs, comfy couches, chairs and wait until you eat out in the Boma! The food was beyond exceptional! and plentiful! and coming from foodie San Francisco we were consistently saying how amazing the food was. Thank you so much Kapama staff! You made our first trip to South Africa and the start of our trip, the best experience of our lives. Until next year, thank you and keep up the amazing South African hospitality!
