My sister and I stayed at Harpers House for 4 nights during our 2 weeks in South Africa. We had a top floor room and have no complaints about the room. it was spacious and had everything we needed. As others wrote, it can be a bit noisy (doors shut loudly and floors can be creaky), but there are only a handful of rooms, so it more or less is first thing in the morning and not super late at night. Breakfast was lovely and you have a choice of being outside or inside. We took advantage of the nice weather and had a bottle of wine outside at night, one evening. The location was good for us and we took advantage of the grocery store next store. We ubered everywhere, and didn't stick around the area we were in, since we had plans for our entire 4 days, but I definitely felt safe and the security of getting in and out of the property, was good. We also asked HH to help is with a Driver to pick us up from the airport, as well as to recommend a half day tour guide for Boulders beach and they set us up with great drivers/tour guides. We also took advantage of their sister property, Gorgeous George, for dinner and drinks our first night. That was very fun. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. My only con, which I shared with the hotel, is they had a candle wax burning on the first floor that was SO STRONG that was bothersome. You won't regret staying at this small boutique hotel.

The property was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful at every turn. My wife and I would happily stay here again without hesitation. It would be a great place to book with a few couples for a cozy spot near nightlife.

I like a comfortable, friendly place to stay in Cape Town before I rent an apartment for the rest of my stay. This was well located, not too close to the Waterfront busy area but not too far away.

What a lovely boutique hotel in Cape Town! We loved the style of the room, the delicious breakfast and the friendly service. We were on the first floor and were able to hear people moving around upstairs, so I would request an upstairs room if I were staying again.

We enjoyed our stay at Harper's House very much. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. Harper's House is in a quiet street, but very close to a variety of restaurants and the waterfront, so very convenient for sightseeing.

This is an refurbished large old home. A very nice place with friendly guests and staff. The room was large and bright. You do have shared bath, but there are several on each floor. The local area is on the shady side with a number of homeless on the sidewalk and park benches. I was told safe, but don't be out walking late at night take a cab. There are a number of restaurants and bars close at hand.

This is such a unique and charming place to stay! I would highly recommend it. No need to be concerned about not having a bathroom in your room, it’s literally right down the hall and available whenever you like with good branded soap and such. The service was amazing and offers a great place to meet fellow travelers. We stayed at the Taj Cape Town beforehand and again, found this place to be way more charming and felt like you were at home.

Free WiFi, coffee and great location. Green point is so central; close to the V&A Waterfront and Sea Point. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary bike hire was a bonus; and we used the bicycles to explore the area on our first day. Rooms are serviced daily and service is great. Friendly hosts and staff. The only negative was that we had to share a bathroom and toilet with other guests.

My stay at Harper's House was fabulous. The rooms are large and decorated with the idea to make one feel at home. The staff at Harper's House is friendly and very accommodating. They were wonderful. My visit was during the winter and I was worried that the tiny heater delivered to my room would not be able to bring any level of comfort to the room due to the large area and high ceilings. Surprisingly it worked so well I had to turn it off in the middle of the night. I am no stranger to guesthouses where the bathrooms are down the hall and was surprised to find that a place of such quality would have this (they do mention this online). But in the end, my satisfaction with my room made the vey short walk down the hall inconsequential. About one block down to the main road you will find the MyCiti bus stop (but I walked to the center quite often). You will also find a variety of restaurants, a deli and the Woolworth grocery store and more all in walking distance of Harpers. I would recommend it to everyone. I wil be returning to Harpers on my next visit to Cape Town.

The place to be! I am hesitant sharing this, because now the chance that we could book another room will become harder. Although they do not provide breakfast, getting your own stuff at next door's Spar and enjoying it in the front yard works fantastic. (Spar has fresh buns, fruit salad, preped sandwiches, etc.) The rooms are better than most of the hotels with a cosy unique style and very comfortable beds. Don't bother about the shared bathrooms. They are cleaner than at home and we did not had any issues sharing it. Harper also provides comfy bathropes. Staff is great and gave us wonderful tips about the wider area of Capetown. My advice: stay in Cpt and Harpers for at least 3 days (we stayed 6), it's so worth it.
