The experience was overall a good one especially the fact that we were the only guests on the night. The bathroom facilities would not have been a nice experience if there were more guests and the shower needs at least a shower shelve for soap, shampoo, etc. We intended to stay for 2 nights, but we were totally horrified when we went to bed at 23h30 after a wonderfully peaceful cup of coffee outside, just to be awaken by the sound of (sounded like a 1000 dogs) that started to bark non-stop until 3h30 in the morning. When we mentioned that to the staff in the morning, they informed us that it happens every night!!! So unfortunate that this was the cause for a not so memorable time.

Bethesda Tower is a wonderful and very special place to stay. Located in the delightful and artistic town of Nieu Bethesda it is centrally located for you to visit all the local places of interest by foot. The Tower is amazing and is based on a fairy tale medieval tower (Like Rapunzel was in). Staying in the top room with the great views of the night sky is fantastic. The room is comfortable and although you do have to go down the outside staircase for the bathroom it was no problem and adds to the charm of the Tower. It was a quiet and peaceful place to stay and easy to find (you can see it from the famous Owl House as it is almost across the road). It was my Birthday and Hilton made it a very special occasion for me with some special treats he had arranged with my wife. The evening meal was superb and again made special for my Birthday. The full English breakfast outside in the lovely courtyard was very tasty and a good start to the day. On top of all the above to see the First People Artists wonderful work of tapestries illustrating their cultural stories in the exhibition was absolutely stunning. We are recommending Bethesda Tower to all our friends and a very special thanks to Hilton and all the team there for making our stay so special. Please note the best road to take to get there is the one North of Graaff Reinett on the left of the R61 (Wellwood Farm) as you drive from Graaff Reinett. It is tarred for approx 20Km with only the last 4Km not tarred but ok.
