We were greeted by a lovely young woman (I didn’t get her name but she had lovely brown curly hair) who checked us in. I had requested a low floor room due to mobility issues but I don’t think this had been actioned as she looked at my walking stick and asked if I would like a ground floor room, and then checked which rooms were ready and switched us to that one. The room was adequate, if a little tired. With a little maintenance it could be lovely again, just a few things that let it down. It was by the main road though opposite a car park which seemed to be a gathering spot for petrol heads who sat in their cars revving up etc. We were a little worried this would go on till late in the night but it settled down quite early so we were thankful for that. We ate in the restaurant at the hotel and found the staff, service and food to be absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the setting of the restaurant is lovely. The blonde haired lady (possibly the manager) was lovely to our dog and sorted out a billing issue for me the next day. All in all a nice one night stop over and we would return. I would just urge the company that owns these properties to carry on investing in them as I find so many are just running them on a shoestring and not caring about the customer experience anymore. Keep up the good work forest to keep it the lovely place it is.

Nice pub with rooms

Had zero sleep become of other guest's. Couldn't go to report this because there wasnt any staff.got up to shower in the morning as there was only one towel between two people. Was told there was shampoo and wash so wouldnt need any and when i went to shower they was all empty. Told staff when checking out early and their reply was well we cant do anything about guests making noises but about the rest i will let staff know for next time. There will not be another time!

Room needed maintenance, peeling paint, mould in bathroom, stained chair, not worth the money paid.

Restaurant is lovely and so is the food. We’re regulars in the restaurant but have never stayed overnight. We were unfortunately rather disappointed with our room. The carpet was frayed at the doorway and the whole carpet was dirty. There were marks on the walls too. Overall the decor was quite pleasant but the room is very tired. Basically okay for somewhere functional but not if you’re looking for a lovely hotel.

The staff very very friendly and helpful although having stayed here 5 years previously, it was now looking very tired and the cleanliness standards had dropped.

I've stayed before and the rooms are nice enough, I can only assume they're currently sort staffed. Checked in after a long day, no remote in the room, commented Tuesday morning. Checked out Friday, room had not been serviced during the four night stay, no remote added. I guess a nice place for a one night stay.

Nice stay. Food was good, although was better in the past when visiting, not sure if something has changed. Rooms were nice, bed/pillows not great but for the price was fine.

Very comfortable hotel and bedroom. Quiet and food in restaurant excellent.

Always a great stay because of the staff including Julie, Lawrence, Sean (the Boss man) and Liam (I hope I got the names right). But rooms are a little dusty and my mugs were both stained and needed replacing. Team makes this a place to come back to again and again.

Superb staff. The best pie I’ve ever had. Fantastic shower.

Comfortable modern rooms with excelent foos served in resteraunt

I didn't realise I'd have to request a room clean on a daily basis, so even though the Team had been in to replace towels and empty the bin, the bed remained unmade and the cup was still dirty. Bathroom was far too cold for use at night and in the morning as no central heating, just a heated towel rail. Bathroom floor was covered in hair strands which definitely were not from my head - one of my pet hates - which could only mean the floor hadn't been swept or mopped recently. No water in the room. There was a spare restaurant chair and fan left outside my room door both nights. It's a good thing that my case wasn't larger as i may have struggled to pass these. But as a partial recompense for the bedroom non- clean, Gary did give me 2 complimentary bottled waters the last night. Staff are absolutely lovely, but you can see where there are cost cutting activities. The online express checkout and pay appeared to take my card details but then the screen showed an error on the final page and although i could see the transaction on my card and Google pay app, i was informed the checkout had not completed as it was still in pending status. As i didnt want to pay twice, i asked for a callback if it didnt go through within the next day. Not greeat first stay impressions unfortunately.
