Had a great stay. Staff were nice and helpful. The restaurant had decent option. The place is far from town but they have shuttles running, and you’re right next to Maderas Beach.

I stayed at this hotel over a month ago. I booked it through Hotels.com and paid for it on the platform. However, when I arrived, the hotel claimed they had no record of my payment. They mentioned something about it not appearing in their system. Trying to be cooperative, I paid again with my credit card, even though I presented confirmation of my prior payment. I was assured the issue would be resolved by the end of the night or the next morning at the latest. However, when it still wasn’t resolved by the time I had to leave, I was promised I would receive a refund one way or another. It’s now been five weeks, and the hotel refuses to refund my money. Initially, I was told the refund had been processed but would take time due to “international bank transfer rules.” In later correspondence, the hotel stopped mentioning the refund altogether. Now, they have completely stopped responding. I want to warn everyone about this fraudulent behavior. The hotel clearly knows I am owed a refund and has even admitted it, yet I have received nothing. Don’t make the mistake of trying to be accommodating and falling for this scam. Additionally, Hotels.com has been unhelpful after dozens of emails, simply directing me back to the hotel as the responsible party.

Selena was a really nics experience. Make sure you ask for fresh towels and to clean your room. Very nice staff.

Disappointed the room at the top of the hill (unique room) didn’t have running water to shower in the evening or morning. Very short periods only.

Common areas especially communal kitchen, dining area not cleaned well. Library full of spiders and not cleaned. My room had wooden shutters and no glass on the windows. Spider found in room, had to buy insecticide. Concrete floors no rugs. Good air conditioning.

Bad service, horrible check in, bad room swaps. List goes on…

Staff is not well trained and didnt know its amenities. Place looked dirty and not well maintained. Breakfast ok.

Relaxing atmosphere, comfortable, one of few places that has hot shower in San Juan del Sur.

My stay here was great, it's a very beautiful property. The pool was refreshing, and there was different seating options to hang out. It was not very busy when I stayed here, so it was a very relaxing atmosphere. I would be thrilled to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful, comfortable, and amazing staff. This was a great place to get away from it all and relax. I was a solo traveller and enjoyed it here. With a group of friends this would be an amazing place to stay.

The hotel was located a fair drive away from San Juan Del Sur, but was close enough not to be really inconvenient. Check in was easy and they gave me a suite/private cabin which was fine for me but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with trouble walking as it was up about 10 flights of stairs, but the view was fantastic.The food was fine and the staff was friendly and helpful when necessary.

very good place for adventurers close to beautiful beach. access road is unpaved.

The only downside is theta the area is far away from everything. Besides that is one of the best hostels I’ve ever been to.

The hostel is amazing and the staff is great! They have so many things, from a yoga deck to a cinema room, it’s the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed. People are pretty chill since everyone staying there is just relaxing, surfing and going to beaches around. The location is a little bit inconvenient but they’ve shuttles to the nearest city.

My gf and I had a great time staying at Salena Maderas. It was a great place to unplug and relax. The beach is about a 10min walk away, but what a beach it is; if not one of the best surf beaches I've ever been to. It was clean, and the water was pristine. The staff were warm and friendly. The surf school was great, best instruction and guidance I've had thus far. Thanks Salena Maderas!

Check-in took much longer than it should have. There were only two other people in my eight bed dorm, but I wasn't allowed in the room until 3pm, so I had to change in the main public bathroom and wait. The location is remote and the private shuttle they organized for us to leave was over an hour late. Facilities are great, but the organization and service are lacking.
