We originally reserved this lovely room for 2 nights. Sadly, our flight was canceled and we were stranded in Montenegro. The flight the next morning was delayed, so we didn't arrive at COCO-MAT until afternoon. We were very sad to miss out on so much of our time, as we didn't get to avail ourselves of the many amenities. However, the helpfulness of the staff did much to alleviate our stress and disappointment. They went above and beyond expectations. The location is perfect. We had reserved tickets to the nearby, but, of course, we missed the timed entry due to the flight cancellation. When we decided to try to purchase replacement tickets that afternoon, it was raining quite hard. The staff loaned us umbrellas, which was so helpful. While we were at the Acropolis, I got an email telling us that the airline had moved up our flight the next morning 2 1/2 hours earlier. That would have required us to leave the hotel in the middle of the night to travel to the airport. We were quite distraught. However, Fillippos, who worked at the front desk helped us cancel our flight and helped book us passage by Ferry to Milos. He was incredibly helpful.

We had a very brief (one night) layover in Athens and stayed at the Coco-Mat. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is very friendly. The amenities are wonderful and the location is excellent. Practically at the foot of the acropolis in the heart of Athens. The areas surrounding the hotel has many cafés and shops and everything is an easy walk from the hotel. Wish we could’ve stayed here longer!

The property was very well located for the Acropolis and Museum. If the rooftop deck was open it would be double the price

This property was tucked in the middle of the city looking at the museum. The staff was excellent and everyone treated us well. I would stay here again.

Pros: - Staffs are friendly and attentive - Very close to Acropolis, Acropolis Museum and Praka shopping area; super convenient - Rooms are clean - Great breakfast Cons: - The room we stayed is small; only one chair; lack of shelf/drawer to put things, we had to leave most of stuff in the suitcases.

The hotel’s location is excellent. The bell hop’s service and showmanship was extraordinary: as soon as I got checked in, he presented me with gifts (water, juice, soft drinks, some small pastries and slippers) and said, “Here are your gifts, and now your hands are full, so I will take your bags.” *Chef’s kiss.* I also quite enjoyed the hotel breakfast and efficient checkin/checkout. The actual room was pretty good, but less exciting than the other features I mentioned. There was a large shower space and a large water closet, but not a standalone bathroom, and the furnishings were geared towards efficiency. Apparently, Coco-Mat also sells mattresses, so I was surprised to find that the bed was OK, but far from the best hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. The one real negative (and it’s trivial) is that being on a lower floor, I didn’t have a particularly nice view, and I could occasionally hear street noise.

This is the hotel to stay in Athens. The location is close walking distance to all the attractions without the busyness and noise of the centre. It’s also very close to a metro stop. We had plans to change hotels for our last week to be closer to the centre but cancelled and rebooked at COCO Mat because we loved it so much. The inclusive buffet breakfast is not to be missed. The staff are friendly and helpful plus the hotel rooms are very nice and clean. Due to govt regulations the roof top pool and restaurant are closed but don’t worry. There are enough other amenities at this hotel to make up for it. Would come back to Athens just to stay here again.

I truly can't put into words how incredible this hotel is. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, every expectation was exceeded. The staff are consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful—it truly feels like staying with family. The hotel itself is stunning: modern, impeccably clean, and ideally located. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when visiting Athens. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for making our stay unforgettable. If I could give 10 stars I would, as they totally deserve it!!

Extremely disappointed with our experience at Coco-Mat Athens BC. The original room we booked felt more like a stuffy, old Motel 6 than a boutique hotel. We paid an upgrade fee for what was described as “the best room available,” which did have a beautiful balcony view of the Acropolis—but oddly, no furniture to enjoy it. The condition of the so-called premium room was unacceptable: bodily fluid stains on the bed and couch, damaged flooring, rusted shower head, robes with loose threads, and overused, scruffy towels. We also found several hairs under the sink and thick dust throughout the room—all documented with photos. We checked out immediately and returned the keys, only to be refunded the upgrade fee. When I asked about a full refund, I was met with a patronizing smile and told to “send pictures.” No one even offered to inspect the room. I’m appalled this is rated a 5-star hotel—at best, it’s a 3-star. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, including elsewhere in Athens and Greece, and this was by far the worst. It ate away precious time on our final night in the city before a long flight home. We’ve contacted the hotel directly and will be disputing the full charge with Visa if they don’t refund it. Strongly recommend others look elsewhere.

Lovely, attentive staff. Very spacious hotel. The rooftop pool and restaurant are closed incase you are choosing it for this reason but would still 100% stay here again for location, cleanliness, comfort and food. My friend also became unwell on our last night as she picked up a big from a cruise we just had - the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, sending medication and arranging a doctor to come and check she was okay.
