My family and friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fairmount Mount Kenya Safari. On our next visit to Kenya we will stay longer than 2 nights so we can spend more time enjoying the hotel.

The place is really beautiful. The staff are very friendly and their services are efficient i had a problem with hot water and is was fixed in minutes. The fire place and hot water bottles at turndown was really good. I feel the food needed some improvement especialy breakfast. Also consider serving pork on different stations not same with the other foods.

No doubt the grounds and our suite was wonderful, the fireplace was a lovely touch. There were too many small things that went wrong which ended up making it an annoying and bad experience. Breakfast team took at least 40 minutes after opening to get coffee, toaster etc going after announced opening time to the frustration of many clients who had outdoor activities planned. Apparently this establishment does not serve butter... just margerine. No coffee service. There was no quiet place for other clients who were drowned out by a large extremely noisy group. Details in the rather costly suite : one mattress had a dent in it compared to other mattress... making it a slopiey experience. My pan seared fish was raw...which I sent back. husband ate his dinner alone - new fish took half an hour. I left grumpy and disappointed. Could not get away sooner..

I stayed here 30 years ago. The heart and soul of the place remains intact, with exquisitely appointed rooms. This is one of the finest hotels in the world. Stay here if you can.

The hotel was set in a fantastic area, the staff were fantastic & very helpful. Food was diverse which will suit many taists. There was plenty of space for kids to run around in. The rooms were fantastic, clean & well maintained. I will be going back again.

Beautiful, historic building. The grounds are breathtaking and very well maintained with peacocks and other colourful birds wondering around. Lots of activities to choose from.

Loved this place. Great rooms - comfy beds and fireplace. Fantastic bar and lounge area. Stunning grounds - golf course, pool, walking trails, and more. Would definitely recommend it while in Nanyuki.

The room was beautiful with 2 French doors overlooking the grounds and lawn. Nighttime service included turndown, lighted fireplace (if desired), and an old-style hot-water bottle as there is no central heating or cooling. I kept the French doors open at night for the pleasant air and the sound of distant birds and animals. Of particular note is the animal orphanage as part of the complex. Great experience to see, pet, and feed many of the animals while learning about the hotel's conservation efforts. Meals were bountiful, although dinner entrees, while fine, were not noteworthy.

A lot of things about this hotel are fantastic, particularly the staff and the setting. They have made some effort with renovations over the last few years but the room we stayed in (room 209) had some serious issues; you could hear the generator whenever it was running (including the siren to alert staff when it goes on/off), there was a very loud drip just outside the windows (it had been raining a lot) and the key card for the door failed on about 7 occasions (in a 24 hour period...). With the prices that are being charged we were INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED with the room, it really was scandalous.

The Resort mostly lived up to my expectations. The location was spectacular with Mount Kenya as a backdrop. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. The meals were superb. We enjoyed horseback riding, the wildlife orphanage, which surpassed my expectations, and safari to Olpejeta. My one gripe was that there was no wifi in the rooms. In this day and age, that should be a given, even at a resort.

Everything was perfect with the exception of very high rates for anything extra that you wanted - such as fishing or golf etc.

Wonderful room with view of Mt Kenya. Top of Mt often covered in cloud. Three of the 4 dinners we ate their were buffet. They seem to revert to buffet when they have more than 20 for dinner. They appear to need to enter every detail in one computer terminal which creates queue of waiters wait to enter details and not serving. The grounds are lovely although can appear like a prison. They are paranoid about guest security therefore don't expect to leave the hotel unless you are in a vehicle. Donot have a cottage near to the helicopters unless you want an early morning call as they fly guests to Mt Kenya. Sweetwaters is better.
