The road was long and windy to get there, but the welcome and beauty of the place vastly made up for it! The property is less than 30 minutes from the center of Santiago, located in a green valley. The main house dates from the early 18th century, with thick granite walls, and has been wonderfully restored with all modern comfort (including good wifi!). The service is excellent and we had our best breakfast in the whole Iberian peninsula, all for a very reasonable price. Our stay was too short but we would love to come back...

A lovely former monastery on the mountain Bachao north of Santiago. It is family owned and operated with lovely breakfast (8.62 euros) and good size rooms. There are 3 cute dogs who great you upon arrival. The littlest one is Greta. I'd give the ensuite room 3 stars due to the stairs (we have bad knees) and the antique drawers are very difficult to open. But the owners, breakfast, dinner (25 euros), and the quiet, beautiful location earn it 5 stars. A car is required.

It is a beautiful farm house with nice rooms and the views. We really appreciate that the owners stayed very late in order to meet us as we were running very late. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent and prices are reasonable. I love everything about this place and highly recommend it to anybody who likes the nature and privacy.

A physically beautiful property. Our very large room was most likely a part of a barn in its long ago existence so the windows were just above floor level and tiny. Sounds like it could be bad but it darkened the room very nicely allowing a bit of a sleep-in. The room's ambience was enhanced by its size, more like a suite, and it had a huge ensuite bathroom with lovely toiletries. The beds were very comfortable. The whole place was a delight, like a Spanish version of the Italian agriturismo. If you like the quiet countryside yet be 20 minutes from a city like Santiago this is your home! Car is essential. Favourite dog: Shusha, a tiny blonde poodle.

This is an amazing place! Sure, it's a bit of a drive from Santiago but well worth it for the quiet, the peace, the comfort and the food! We loved it and we didn't even have a car.

This is a special place... an amazing hotel in the hills/ mountains outside Santiago. The old farmhouse is full of character and the rooms are charming and comfortable. We had a slight problem with the wi-fi, but it did not spoil or two-night stay. Food is excellent too!

A twenty minute drive from Santiago de Compostela this beautiful converted monastery sits in the heart of the countryside. With a delightful swimming pool in extensive gardens it is a perfect place to relax after a long journey. A warm welcome and lovely friendly atmosphere. It has a beautiful interior with amazing furnishings with an excellent menu and wonderful regional breakfast. We can highly recommend this hotel.

After completing the 800km walk from St. Jean Pied de Port, France, to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, the tranquil setting of the Casa Grande do Bachao Manor House was the perfect segway from life on the Camino to life back home. A 30 minute cab ride from Santiago had us relaxing in the comfort of the Estate. It was pure luxury after 31 days on the Camino.

Located about twenty minutes from Santiago do Compostela, this is a hidden gem of a beautifully restored and furnished old farmhouse. Helpful, multilingual staff and a tastefully furnished room away from all traffic noise set in a forest. Ideal for romantic stays without the madding crowd.

A wonderfully restored building perfectly decorated. Although the food choice is kind of take it or leave it the meal we had was delicious and served expertly. I would have no hesitation of returning to this out of the way and peaceful location.

If you want to get away from it all and relax in lovely surroundings I can thoroughly recommend a stay at this hotel. It is situated in an isolated location and proved to be a perfect base for our 2 night stay. The main objective was to explore Santiago de Compostela which is a 15-20 minute drive away. Lara met us on arrival and was very friendly and efficient. We ate out as evening meals at the hotel were served at 2100hr, as they are in many Spanish hotels, but this was a bit late for us. A super hotel which I hope to visit again.

We thought this casa was absolutely fantastic! Set in really beautiful countryside, it is full of character and lovely touches. Our room was spacious and elegant, and the hotel had lots of different areas you could sit and enjoy the lovely rooms and the views. Lots of quirky touches which all added to its charm. Previous reviewers have said that it was like being in a country home of your own - which is absolutely true. The grounds are also stunning. Breakfast and evening meals were superb; service was excellent. Other guests were also really friendly - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Would love to return one day!
