This place is special! It’s a quirky resort, spacious enough to not feel busy and yet feeling intimate as well. Walking around, there are nooks and crannies full of quirky surprises. Its rustic shabby chic style provides a peaceful ambience.
One of the highlights was seeing the giant fruit bats (flying foxes) leave the mangrove forest just after sunset. They streamed out for about 15mins and some flew over to the villas, they were massive!
We rented motorbikes to go out each day exploring the island, but it would be possible to spend the whole time at the villas. Communication with staff is via whatsapp/line, where they respond quickly and are very helpful.
The pool villa was perfect, exactly what we wanted. My father’s junior suite in the main building was equally impressive. We stayed for a week and if we return to Yao Yai it will be to come to this place.
