True gem on every front. Highly recommend.

This hotel is absolutely awesome and exceeded our expectations! The service was outstanding, and we truly appreciated the excellent communication support with translators — it made our stay as deaf guests so much easier and more enjoyable. The rooftop offers a stunning view, and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended!

The staff at the Friends Hotel & Rooftop were so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I was interested in exploring Quito and the sights around the city. They knew about the historic places and how to get there. They knew about the stores I needed to go to to pick up things I needed while traveling. The hotel is only a couple of blocks away from the Unesco Plaza Grande, which is at the heart of the historic center of Quito. I enjoyed walking there to see the famous cathedrals and to try out the restaurants and shops. Their free breakfasts were so delicious! They prepared them according to what you wanted and always with the freshest ingredients. Their coffee was to die for! I stayed at this fabulous hotel from April 28th to May 2nd, 2025 before I traveled to Guayaquil to meet the Sierra Club for our trip to the Galápagos Islands.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was excellent. A small fridge was provided me upon request. Filtered water was readily available for the guests to keep in their rooms. The facility was beautifully and meaningfully decorated reflecting Ecuadorian culture. I don't think Expedia should advertise them as having a restaurant. It's misleading,especially if the person who books really wants to have access to a restaurant in their hotel.

Overall the kindness of the staff made this an amazing stay. The hotel was very secure, I felt like I was coming to my home. I received everything that was offered and they went above and beyond to accomodate. The breakfast is a set menu but always delicious, healthy and filling. The view from the rooftop is amazing, loved having breakfast with an amazing view of Quito, el panecillo and the surrounding mountains. The night tour they offer is educational, fun and not very long (my personal preference). Will stay here again, no doubt.

What an absolute amazing stay! We were picked up at the airport and dropped off at the front door. The airport greeter (Fernando) and front desk representative (Joel) carried our luggage to our room (on the top floor). There is no lift/elevator so request a lower floor if possible. My name was on the welcome sign and we were given information about the area and tours. I mentioned that I was cold and Joel brought us a space heater. There were additional blankets for our convenience. The beds were comfortable and the double room with two beds was spacious. Yale and Henry were super helpful front desk representatives! They made us feel very welcome and comfortable to ask any questions. The breakfast crew was superb! The food was freshly prepared and appealingly presented. The breakfast area offers astonishing views of the city including the Virgin of El Panecillo. Fresh flowers and greenery add a nice touch to the homey feeling. This historic center hotel is charming and has phenomenal value for your money. No need to keep up with room keys as there are digital keypads. We booked our return to the airport at check in. If ever in Quito again, this will be our only choice!!

Truly one of the best stays I had in my travels. I was welcomed with so much love and left very sad that I had to leave my new friends here in this hotel. Some key points what made my stay awesome, the daily breakfast from the “welcome breakfast” to the “box-lunch” breakfast as if I had a tour at 6am they made sure I left with a very well prep breakfast. The kitchen staff beyond awesome and delicious meals. The front desk made sure I had all the information I needed and booked 3 amazing tours for me, Otavalo, Baños & Cotopaxi. I’m in a noisy NY but sleeping at this location was very peaceful/comfortable. They allowed me to keep my bags at the location even after checkout because I had a very late flight. To everyone at the hotel thank you so much, I’m very grateful for my stay and I’ll definitely come back.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and they had no problem catering to my gluten free allergy. I took the walking tour and it was really good!

I loved everything about this hotel. It is nearly new, great breakfasts, quiet and attractive inside and out. They communicated with me quickly and clearly when I had questions before my visit. What I liked best was the camaraderie of the team. They act like a close family. Yale really stands out. Great English, always happy to help. She went above and beyond to get my new phone setup when my old one was pickpocketed. Thanks everyone! Be careful! Old town feels very safe, even at night. But the pickpockets are very skilled.

This quaint little hotel is charming, easy walking in the historic district, and staff are war and friendly and very helpful

The hotel was clean and is centrally located in the historical area of quito - not safe once the sun comes down. A HUGE disappointment. Also, don't be fouled by the “free shuttle offering” to the airport is total lie!. Is a false advertisement. If you reserve one night only, they will turn it around saying that you have to stay a minimum of 2 nights in order to obtain it.

Hotel has a perfect location at the edge of historical center of Quito and is located at dead end street ... so no noise from cars . View from the restaurant is excellent

Honestly the room was amazing!! We stayed in a beautifully decorated three room suite for a wildly reasonable price. My only regret is I was running around so much, I didn’t spend much time in the room! I stayed with a friend but this would be a great stay for a romantic getaway. The location was quiet but close to everything. Definitely recommend!

In addition to the efficient friendly service at the reception desk, I also want to thank Ethel for the informative excellent walking tour of the Old City. You can arrange this tour with the front desk or respond to the text and book it via text. The breakfast was fabulous, cooked to order as opposed to a buffet. The view as you consume your breakfast is spectacular!!!. All in all it was a lovely 4 days. C.Buie

The building itself, the age, the wood floors, the wooden staircases, the roof top breakfast area which has an amazing view and whilst the building is historically charming the bathrooms are modern. The check in was excellent. Efficient, informative and very friendly.
