I ranked this hotel 5-stars in comparison to other hotels of its type - i.e. aparthotels. There is no question that this is not a full-service downtown Marriott or Hilton. On the other hand, the front-desk staff were very friendly and helpful and there was the normal types of service like a baggage check if you had to check out long before your flight (as I did). There was free breakfast - again, not 5-star in an absolute sense, but very serviceable and with good variety including muffins, cereals (hot and cold), eggs, sausages, etc. The rooms are huge. They contain full apartment-size stoves (with 4 burners/hobs) and refrigerators; also a decent-enough selection of pots, plates, and cutlery. Each room is basically a bachelor apartment with as many TVs as I have in my home. There is a sitting area, a desk, a table (mine was extendable to seat up to 6 people), etc. The location is excellent - right on Elgin St in the middle of a wide variety of restaurants from a high-end steak house to McDonald's and everything in between. There is parking (for an extra fee) but you don't need a vehicle if you're only interested in the "big" highlights like Parliament Hill (15 minutes walk), Byward Market and the convention centre (20 minutes), or the national gallery (25 minutes). The War Museum and the Museum of History (Museum of Civilization) are a bit further but I still walked it. If that much walking is not your thing, the hop-on-hop-off bus depot is a short 10-minute walk up Elgin.

What we love: the large suite stocked with everything needed, the sofa beds that are actually comfortable!!!, the complimentary breakfast with great coffee (espresso machine), the free laundry with complimentary soap and dryer sheets!, the location (easy walk to all the downtown sights and restaurants) and lastly, the people (best front office ever!) We’ve stayed here many times now and each stay is like coming home. I wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else!

We had a good stay overall. The room was meant for 4 people, but when we arrived, the sofa bed wasn’t set up or moved, and there were only 3 towels and not enough shower products for everyone. That said, I went to the front desk and everything was quickly resolved great service! It would just be nice if these things were already prepared when it’s known that 4 guests are staying. The breakfast was complete with plenty of options, the location is perfect, and the staff was super friendly and helpful.
