Holiday Inn BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT - NEC, an IHG Hotel

Staff member who checked us in, did his best but understaffed. Advised no shuttle bus when we needed it (the whole point of booking this hotel as we had a concert and airport connections), took ages to be served overpriced coffee and snacks, bed was hard as nails, rust on bath and then when decided to go for a swim couldn’t because of swimming lessons! Not great! We have spent a fortune on Ubers and cabs.

I stayed for 1 night as I was close to my place of work but my room was at the back of the hotel, so all night I could hear some sort of noise like a large boiler was rumbling outside. Also the air con wall controller kept turning off as it was on some sort of timer. The staff didn’t know how to resolve this issue

The front desk staff were extremely helpful, the room was clean and comfortable.

Lovely cosy room, comfy bed, really friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food in restaurant and great breakfast options. Decent price for hotel. Pool and spa lovely! Overpriced parking at £12 for overnight or £10 for a day.

Overnight crew stay for airport. Hotel as you would expect at this price level and company. Breakfast was good selection,quality and tasty but dinner was little disappointing menu wise and the ordering system was odd. Felt a bit canteen/cafe like instead of hotel restaurant.

Our stay was amazing. The staff were so helpful especially Padma and Twinkle.They made our stay very welcoming , homly which helped alot.The receptionist were also really helpful with all requests.

My stay unfortunately was overshadowed by a number of people next door to me in the early hours having a party just before 4AM knocking on my door shouting music blaring, went on for some time I phoned the desk and knocked on my door before getting the right room eventually. Next morning was looked at with confusion when I mentioned about it and asked to speak to the manager instead I was passed a message on from the receptionist that there was no signs of a party and was told I receive a phone call at later point on the day when I checked out. Still heard nothing since. Felt dissatisfied and disappointed with the service. Wasn’t listened to and I have never had to make a complaint before but this was the exception and felt let down by staff. Beware if using this hotel at Christmas time parties are on and you may be stuck with someone returning with party to their room.

Comfortable suite, staff very efficient and polite from check in to check out.

Not a great experience. Staff not properly able to handle large groups. Disappointed re Residents Bar / food which Closed at 1.00 am without notice,and were referred to room service which was literally cold drinks and cold sandwiches from a Starbucks fridge. Duty manager was good and tried to help but his hands were tied. Some staff were very unprofessional and didn't know how to handle customers, some were arrogant and really need to brush up on their customer service skills. I came to this place a couple of years ago and it was 10 times better before with more attentive staff. Overall, we spent a substantial amount of money, but the level of service was not worth the price.

Warm feeling as soon as we walked in. Room was immaculate Only the breakfast was very disappointing Paid for breakfast but being on early flight only continental was available, and food wasn't worth the money .

Great experience all staff were excellent very friendly and accommodating Checked in around 4.15 pm and the reception team were extreme helpful and friendly! Breakfast was very tasty and all staff attentive x

Parking was inadequate, I had to try 3 spaces to find one that fit my car and I was worried about my car being dented due to how small the spaces were. Checking in took ages, I assume I got caught behind a bus of people from the airport, but because of this it took an hour to check in. Topping it all off, I was awakened by a fire alarm. In all, just a lot of little issues that alone might not have been a big deal, but all together not a nice combination.

Sadly we had booked a King Room via your site but this was not allocated and when queries with the hotel I was informed that due to booking with a third party there was nothing that could be done !! This would prevent me from considering a third party booking in the future The room was also very noisy, located at the front of the property where lots of people where gathered to socialise over a vape or cigarette - quite disturbing until the early hours.

Reliance on contactless payments a bit frustrating. Availability of chip & pin payments would have made things easier.
