I have traveled a lot and stayed in various hotels, but it was so absurd that I had to pay to change sneakers hotel provid3d when I went to the hotel gym. I also doubted whether the sneakers they were lending me were clean. It was very uncomfortable.

The check in is strictly allowed after 3pm.
The hotel room maintenance seems to be poor at least in my room. Moldy bathtub, cracked entrance tile floor. The AC/heating unit made some strange noise which made me wake up couple of times at night.

The good bad and ugly.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Yeosu Sono Calm hotel. We got upgraded to a large ocean view room. This was a pleasant surprise after staying at smaller rooms in Seoul. The sauna and breakfast buffet were also 5 stars!
Now for the bad. The rooms are a bit dated from the Expo days. Bring extra plugs to charge your USB devices. The plumbing in the bathroom is also odd. You'll have to see for yourself.
In summary Sono Calm is worth a visit with a few quirks. Enjoy!

"I was disappointed with my stay at this 5-star hotel. The weather was already hot and humid, but the hallways were not air-conditioned, making it even more uncomfortable. The dim lighting in the hallways also added to the gloomy atmosphere. The staff did not seem to live up to the standards of a 5-star hotel, as they were not particularly friendly or welcoming. Additionally, only women were available to assist with heavy luggage. It was also inconvenient that there was no laundry facility available within the hotel."

This trip was to celebrate my parent's 40 years wedding anniversary.
1. Check-in was not smooth and confirmed with a receptionist that they will arrange window seat for dinner dining but when I get there, they were even not able to find my dinner reservation and needed to wait there for a while. It was so embarrassed and sorry to my parents
2. Would wanted to use some facilities and asked for the guide to the concierge/reception but no one very clear about hotel facilities and keep asking me that 'why are you asking the details?', 'facility is there, go and check'.
It was kinda horrible experience and would not willing to visit there again.
