Upon arrival, the greeting was as if we were priority guest. Our stay was wonderful! The entire staff was professional, pleasantly kind, and very tentative to our needs. Especially, service of the valet attendants who promptly retrieved and parked our vehicle. The property is in the heart of downtown, walking distance, close to many attractions and restaurants. We want to thank Embassy Suites Charleston, SC for our memorable first time experience. We look forward to returning and perhaps making this a regular establishment when we visit.

This property is not what is expected of embassy suites. Old dirty stain carpeting. Furnishings that are badly worn, scratches, basically falling apart. I did not take my shoes off the entire time I was there. When I complained the management admitted that the hotel was old and not updated. Stating that they have had multiple complaints about this property. I would only compare this to the bottom of the barrel economy hotel. Even some of those were better than this. Do not stay here!!

Rooms haven't been rennovated yet. Bathroom was filthy, wall paper falling off tthe wall, shower grab bar was very loose; stuffing coming out of couch in seating area; toilet was not secured and ran. Very high price for a lousy property.

My co-worker and I booked two double beds so we could get a good night's sleep after a very intensive conference we were producing. After arriving exhausted very late that evening, the valet was not helpful (we are two petite women), and we were given a room with no working AC. We were told we could get a fan. We asked for another room and were given a single queen with a pull out that was deplorable. The room was filthy with hair and broken beer bottles left in corners. No compensation has been offered at this time which is offensive.

Unfortunately the room was very tired and in desperate need of updating. The bathroom in particular was losing the grout between the floor tiles and curtains did not close. The property was undergoing update to the outside and this was very noisy during breakfast. The staff were polite, helpful and courteous and a benefit to the location.

Great location. I understand the building is old and don’t expect everything to be updated but so much could be done to make the common areas more inviting. Just replacing the old, discolored carpet in the walkways and putting a few pieces of furniture in the atrium would help a lot. The breakfast and bar areas are very cramped and it seems the atrium could be better used to help in that area. Speaking of the bar, the reception snacks were very disappointing.
The room was fine. Furniture was obviously very old and scratched but did its job. We couldn’t figure out how to get consistent hot water in the shower so maybe updating the plumbing would help with that.
All of the staff that we encountered were very friendly and helpful. It was our mistake that we forgot to pack our Bluetooth speaker when we left. We tried calling several times to see if we could get them to ship it to us, but can’t even get thru to housekeeping. Calls go straight to voicemail and cut off before you can leave a message.

This is a cool building, in a fantastic area of downtown Charleston. Very walkable.
They had a great complimentary breakfast, and a free happy hour reception.
The property is a little dated and could use a refresh, but it was clean and I'd stay here again.

PROs: Great location. Breakfast is a typical Embassy Suites buffet... very good, Complementary Happy hour is nice, Room layout is good, Shower had great water pressure, A/C blew like a hurricane.
CONs: A little run down and in disrepair. Our shower rod was falling off the wall. The carpet looked like it was the original (1840). Not a great value... I paid $411/night (all in) and you've expect a lot more for that price.

This property is in desperate need of updating/renovating. There was construction being performed on the outside of the building and we were not told about it prior to booking. Just beware the hotel is extremely old and has not been updated. The bathrooms have cracked and dirty grout, peeling paint on doors, dirty/stained carpet and creaky floors that had to have bothered our neighbors below us. The staff offered to move us to another room, but the only difference was it had taller ceilings. It was nice of them to try and make it better. There are plenty of great hotels to choose from downtown. I would steer clear of this one until it has undergone a renovation.

I thought the hotel itself needs refreshing. Felt drab and musty. Wall paper in our bath was coming off the wall, rusty drip lines in shower , no window in the room which is a little claustrophobic and at least in my home state a fire hazard. Room was a comfortable temperature but I had to sleep on the couch the last night as the mattress was too soft for my back.

Slow check in because room not ready. Hotel under construction, resulting in a complete lack of the outdoor patio space, which is one of the reasons we selected this hotel. The rooms have also gotten very rundown even beyond what they were and past years. The couch was broken, wallpaper peeling off of walls, rusted chrome fixtures, uncomfortable beds and pillows, and stains on the furniture. Badly in need of upgrade.
