What a great stay overlooking the bay and Japanese garden. Clean rooms, excellent customer service, restaurant on-site for breakfast and dinner: the hotel offers two discount coupons for the restaurant and a complimentary drink. I would definitely book again. If I have to critique then I would recommend updating the rooms a bit and better better bath products. Helpful tip… AC will not come on if balcony door is open. Room 530 ocean view 2-queens. Can’t wait to return.

First stayed at this hotel over 20years ago. As was the case then location is still beautiful over looking Hilo bay and next to magnificent gardens. Dined in the cafe on Saturday and Sunday nights as the restaurant only offered a rather expensive buffet. Hotel is showing its age in some respects but is still a nice place to stay.

AC worked well. TV was subpar. The "lounge"/bar was understaffed and the restaurant was overpriced. This led to overcrowding and major understaffing in the lounge/bar. Free breakfast area was unclear. Quite expensive for what is and relative to the rest of the island. Handicap parking was in short supply near the entrance. A few minor changes could really improve it. Subbing out the yellow wall paper would be a huge improvement on the feel of the room. Lowering the shower curtain would improve the shower and the darkness in the shower. Smelled like an old building. The room doors might have had undercuts but if so, hallway noise wasn't an issue.

We enjoyed our stay in our ocean front room. It was spacious and house keeping every other day was excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed breakfast in the on-site restaurant. The only negative was the in-room air conditioner. The fan was very noisy even though the maintenance guys swapped it out once. We will definitely plan to stay there when visiting Hilo again.

The property listed daily cleaning room but when we went out for all day, expecting came back with the fresh room to enjoy. They haven’t cleaned up and we called the housekeeper and front desk they said they would make up room if you stay 3-4 days. In that case they need to tell customers at the time check in. Also they listed breakfast time but not clear that your room rate NOT included breakfast. Everything listed not clear. I don’t like that way.

The room was nice and clean- no fridge or microwave in the room- have to pay a daily use rate for a microwave. The pool was small! Many people drinking beers by the pool and very loud for a small area.
The buffet restaurant is expensive! The cafe/grill restaurant- staff were rude and would not give us table even though some were clean and open. We walked to the next hotel and ate there! Very nice place to eat.

This hotel is very conveniently located on Banyan Drive in Hilo. Staff was friendly. WSW Steakhouse had amazing food and staff and is right onsite. There is also a more casual restaurant that had friendly staff and a smaller menu. Beautiful location but loud locals out until late at night blasting music was kind of a downer. Hotel is a bit rundown but overall a good value for the price and the location.
