The location was amazing. I loved everything about the property. My only small complaint was that they charged me $5 every 30 minutes to use the computers at the front. I have never seen a hotel do this but everything else was great and this wasn't a big deal.

Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
Extra pillows and towels requested were brought to room quickly. Appreciate being greeted by staff upon entering property. A smile goes a long way.
No open breakfast like before but they do give a coupon for $10 off sit down breakfast at restaurant. Great views of Mauna Kea!

Beautifu and convenient location! Family of 6 with two rooms. Wish there was conjoining rooms (door in between) but they did their best to get us side by side. The view outside our room was ANAZING! The restaurant is VERY expensive so we just ate outside the hotel. Uber eats does deliver as well. Close to all fun things like volcano park 50min drive, and farmers market 5-10mins away (we did rent a vehicle). Pics from 8th floor on the backside of the hotel. Overall great stay.

The Air Conditioning in Room 322 was Not cooling off the room at all. We had to keep The window curtains closed to keep it cool the Floor Closest to the Vents for the AC was Soaked with water leaking from wherever and the pillows ain’t comfortable at all. oz

This is a very nice hotel right next to the Coco island and Japanese garden, at a very reasonalbe rate. I could have give 5 stars, but I felt that the women at the front desk could have tried to be more friendly rather than showing just not very heart felt gratitude.

The hotel desperately needed a face lift. Upon check in our towel rack was hanging off the wall, all the wall paper was rolling off the walls and finger prints all over the glass

Family friendly property with nice pool that has view of the bay. Large restaurant on lobby floor with nice view. Easy walk to the adjacent park. One thing I found odd was that it was a double bed room but only had one set of towels, I had to request more. Overall nice stay.

Beautiful area with Coconut Beach and all the Banyan trees. We did experience poor service at breakfast one morning. But the second morning was great service. Wish it had been less rainy but nobody can control that. It is a lovely hotel.

This is a very cool property in a great location. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. There are lots of nice beaches within a short distance, including some nice spots within walking distance.
I saw some critical reviews about the rooms being dated, and in some aspects they are, but they are clean and well maintained. If you're looking for luxury this is probably not going to be the place, but if you just want a nice clean room in a fantastic location, then I think Hilo Hawaiian is a great value for the money. I enjoyed my stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay again the next time I am in the area.

Beautiful view of Hilo Bay. Room was very dated. Holes in the lining of drapes and wallpaper peeling in places. Was clean. Service was slow in the restaurant but enjoyed the breakfast!

What a great stay overlooking the bay and Japanese garden. Clean rooms, excellent customer service, restaurant on-site for breakfast and dinner: the hotel offers two discount coupons for the restaurant and a complimentary drink. I would definitely book again. If I have to critique then I would recommend updating the rooms a bit and better better bath products. Helpful tip… AC will not come on if balcony door is open. Room 530 ocean view 2-queens. Can’t wait to return.
