Holiday Inn GAINESVILLE-UNIVERSITY CTR, an IHG Hotel

Only complaint there was construction in the building. But they were good about keeping the noise down. Staff was very friendly.

Great catch for a quick trip; currently under renovations so no wifi during my stay but i didn’t need it. Staff is very attentive and accomodating to needs. My room was completely renovated and very comfortable and modern. Convenient parking on-site and within walking distance of the social scene in town.

The property is under construction and I was aware of that. what was not listed on the expedia website nor told to me by the staff at check-in was there was no internet service in the hotel other than on the first floor where check in is located. I wouldn't have checked in had i known internet surface wasn't available.

Gym is closed

Construction at the hotel was loud from 7 AM to 9 PM. I was reactive to the fresh carpet glue--it gave me head aches. There were stains on the new carpet and a hole in the wall already (marked with blue tape). The alley way where we had to park had sketchy characters going around most of the night. There was cardboard flooring in the elevator and foyer. There was no breakfast area. This is the first negative review that I have ever written.

Room stinks. Decrepit. Shower does not produce water. Sink gets only scolding hot water. But staff friendy at check in, good restaurant. Great location.

Beds in the room are very high. It isn’t good for everyone.

May have been the most rundown motel I have stayed in during the past 20 years.

This review is for the Holiday Inn Gainesville. We were given room 314, which was far from what we expected. The hotel is undergoing construction, which wasn’t disclosed at the time of booking. We had requested and paid for a King room but were instead given a double. The 3rd floor hallways smelled musty and moldy, the bathroom light was broken, and the shower had almost no water pressure. The room itself was poorly maintained, with visible cracks on the walls and ceiling. When I asked to change rooms, I was told there were none available. I ended up checking out and booking another hotel. Essentially, I paid for a weekend stay (Friday to Sunday) at a hotel where I didn’t stay. I booked through Hotels.com, I’ve been told I have to request a refund through them. I use Hotels.com for all my bookings, but unless this issue is resolved, I will no longer use their service in the future. I have attempted to contact their customer service multiple times via phone and virtual chat, with no resolution. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, and their lack of support is unacceptable.

The hotel is in bad condition supposedly they are renovating the rooms really stinks they are not clean In general the hotel is a no no stay maybe when they remolded the whole hotel as now I will not recommend to go, there are better options than this neat by you can google it .

I think it the property will be great once renovations are complete. However, very difficult stay with renovations in process. Old rooms very rough conditions- smell, dirty, very dated, etc. New rooms had limited voltage, no irons, curling irons, hair dryer, etc. Hopefully this is temporary, given remodel activity. Location is great but a very tough stay. Friendly staff.

Room was pretty dirty and run down. The workers at the hotel were fine - I had no issue at all with service - but the property is very, very run down.

When we arrived, we were told our room was cancelled but there was never an email or phone call to us regarding the cancellation. Also, we got an email earlier in the day stating that our room was ready and if we had any preference. Luckily, they had extra rooms for us but the room that we got didn't have a refrigerator or wifi and was still in the middle of a renovation so there was no door frame and other things were missing as well. I expected some sort of discount for the inconvenience but nothing was provided. Finally, the front desk lady was not very nice and didn't really care about our frustrations or concerns.

The floor we were on was "under renovation" but was opened anyway since the hotel "sold out" all the rooms. The door wouldn't shut from the outside unless you used the key card, one wall had no electricity in the room (the USB charger and lights next to the bed did not work), there was no fridge or microwave in the room, the ice maker down the hall was still wrapped in plastic. For $700 a night, I would have expected much better. Maybe worth $300, just for the location.

The price was extremely high . Construction was going on . There was a terrible smell. Its should be closed during construction and not offered until finished . The cost was way overpriced I was not satisfied but had no choice other than to stay . The staff was very nice though

The hotel is under renovation, but the room is from 1980 and should not be rented!

My mistake for renting this room to be closer to my daughters apartment. It stinks. Literally. And the actual room had the overwhelming smell of a very bad air freshener that made me think they were covering up a bad odor. I moved out immediately and slept on my daughter’s couch. Never again.

This property overbooked the rooms on a football game weekend where the rooms were inflated to $900/nt. They offered to accommodate 8 people into 4 king rooms rather than 2 double queen rooms but were requiring us to pay even more for the additional rooms needed due to their negligence. The staff was rude and ultimately cancelled the reservation all together when we argued that we should not be charged more to accommodate our group.
