Ine Town, Tango Peninsula
Ine Bay features a distinctive settlement due to its minimal tidal variation. Residents crafted homes on the small land stretch between mountains and sea, creating a unique "boat house" architecture. These boat houses, characterized by ship docks on the first floor and living spaces on the second, line the Ine Bay shoreline, resembling charming Kyoto-style bungalows adrift on the sea. Recognized since 2005, the Ine Funaya settlement holds the honor of being a designated important preservation site for traditional Japanese buildings.
