This is a beautiful hotel originally built in 1927 overlooking the public gardens in the middle of downtown Halifax. We had an absolutely wonderful time and will stay again.

The room was OK and the maintenance was also just OK. We had the message light flash on the phone the whole visit and they could not turn it off. The room was cleaned well but toilet paper for example were not replaced when empty. Same with towels. Overall good location but very average room.

The Lord Nelson was a great stay in Halifax. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I slept well. Its location is great, in walking distance of the Citadel, restaurants, bars and the waterfront. All of my interactions with staff were great - they were friendly and helpful.

My flight was cancelled for the next day. After quickly looking for hotels in the city, I chose this one. Their prices were not much higher than any everyday accommodations so I grabbed it. Lovely hotel, fabulous staff from check in to check out.

Without a doubt, this is one of the best hotels we've stayed at in Canada. The staff were exceptional—friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and always quick to assist. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites. Though clearly an older hotel, has been extremely well maintained. Stepping into the lobby with its wood paneling and chandeliers is a bit like traveling back in time to the mid 1900's. It is conveniently located across the street from the Halifax Public Gardens and within walking distance of the Halifax Citadel. There is a surprisingly vast number of nearby restaurants to choose from. There is a parking garage attached to the building though it's a bit of a maze to figure out how to get from the parking garage to the lobby. Also be careful in the garage when opening up the back door of an SUV (especially if it swings above the height of the car). Some of the parking spots have low hanging pipes for the fire sprinkler system which I managed to bang the back door of my car against. Still, we would not hesitate to stay again in the future.
