The property is beautiful surrounded by a lush forest which brings around wildlife (including some monkeys that can be a bit invasive). The tram at Bunga Raya was really a pleasure, with smiles and warm hospitality. We do have to warn of the sand flies, which left my husband with over 60 bites on his back even after applying repellent (I on the other hand was never bothered much, as with other guests it was a hit or miss). Dinners were all to be served when we first arrived, but by the third day speed of service increased greatly. We enjoyed the snorkeling day trip offered with a supplemental charge- it was probably one of the highlights from our stay at the resort. The spa is truly a hidden gem, my husband and I went twice because we enjoyed our services so much - with a special shoutout to Tina and her colleagues for such warmth and hospitality! I would definitely recommend Bunga Raya for its location, the laid back atmosphere, the beautiful grounds, great food and its kind staff. Just beware of the sand flies if you’re a beach person (and if insects or mosquitos tend to bite you) !

PRIVATE CHARTER BOAT RATES: Jesselton Point Pier (to/from) Bungaraya – RM 350 nett* per boat per way Charter Boat Terms & Conditions: • 20% surcharge is applicable for boat charters between 7pm to 7am • Boat charter service is subject to availability • Required at least 7 working days advance booking prior to arrival • Full Payment must be made at least 5 working days prior to arrival • Request will be automatically released if no payment received within the given time frame • Any last-minute requests, shall be subject to boat availability and may consequently causes delay to your trip and flight, Resort shall not be held liable for this delay • Any cancellations made 24 hours or less prior to arrival will result in 100% cancellation charge • In any case of flight schedule changes or delay, a waiting fee of RM 100nett per hour will be charged. Last minute cancellation will incur full charges

We are pleased to announce that the second phase of the Bunga Raya Resort upgrade will take place from early September until the end of 2017. Our much beloved Pantai Grill will get a makeover. When it opens up in December it will be our all day dining restaurant with unsurpassed views of the South China Sea. Very disappointing and absolutely not worth the money. Having paid USD $250 a night, I expect the following: 1. A clean beach that is not full of garbage. Watching the disinterested man with the water buffalo walking across the beach and picking up a few big chunks of plastic and ignoring all other types of garbage was just sad. 2. WiFi in rooms, can’t believe this needs to be said in 2025. It is very obvious that the hotel managements wants the guests to spend time in their “public areas” spending money on overpriced and food and drinks. I am already paying a lot of mo eh for my room, this is not acceptable. 3. Much better food. Both breakfast and dinner was very poor and people running both did not seem to care at all. 4. Service that matches the money charged. At pretty much every point (check-in, breakfast, dinner, check-out) there were 1-2 people serving several groups of people. Whilst very friendly, they were very unorganised and slow. I was “accidentally” overcharged at all times when money needed to be paid, and had to point out the mistake before my bills were amended. The grounds are beautiful so the place definitely has good potential, it is a shame that none of was realised.

If there is one thing to highlight about Bunga Raya, that's the staff: they were all really well trained, helpful and friendly - from this perspective, one of the best experiences we ever had. The ladies at the massage were also really good. We liked breakfast a lot: great variety and quantity, I would especially recommend Tuaran mee. The house reef has probably seen better days (condition of the corals), but you can see a lot of small fish, clownfish, rays and if you are lucky, even a green turtle. We were also told that leatherbacks frequent the area if you visit at the right time. There were two things that we did not like: the cocktails have really little alcohol and the beach is quite dirty (PET bottles and other bigger pieces too). While it's understandable that the property cannot control what's in the water, they could send staff around daily to collect the thrash. We hoped they would do this, but we saw the exact same pieces for several days. At this price / quality level (and with so many people employed there), we could not understand why they would not do this.

Has a lot of potential, but needs re-investment to bring back up to 4/5 star standards. Rubbish is a serious issue on the beach & the resort / hotel area needs a deep clean. Staff are lovely.

Ha sido una de los mejores alojamientos en los que he estado. El personal es muy atento, tienes todo tipo de comodidades, el sitio es precioso y tienes la posibilidad de hacer muchas actividades. Totalmente recomendable!

If there is one thing to highlight about Bunga Raya, that's the staff: they were all really well trained, helpful and friendly - from this perspective, one of the best experiences we ever had. The ladies at the massage were also really good. We liked breakfast a lot: great variety and quantity, I would especially recommend Tuaran mee. The house reef has probably seen better days (condition of the corals), but you can see a lot of small fish, clownfish, rays and if you are lucky, even a green turtle. We were also told that leatherbacks frequent the area if you visit at the right time. There were two things that we did not like: the cocktails have really little alcohol and the beach is quite dirty (PET bottles and other bigger pieces too). While it's understandable that the property cannot control what's in the water, they could send staff around daily to collect the thrash. We hoped they would do this, but we saw the exact same pieces for several days. At this price / quality level (and with so many people employed there), we could not understand why they would not do this.

Has a lot of potential, but needs re-investment to bring back up to 4/5 star standards. Rubbish is a serious issue on the beach & the resort / hotel area needs a deep clean. Staff are lovely.
